I'll take away the hurt. Tell me all your fears. And if you're feelin' scared, I'll be here. You don't have to be tough with me. I'll protect you from it all. The wind moved through Alaina's hair as the Mythrol drove the cruiser towards the destination Greef had discussed. She was thankful for the wind needing some air to calm her down, the sick feeling in her stomach still around at their small little journey. She was smushed in the center console seat between Din and Greef trying her best to not look so worried, but each time she thought she succeeded, Din would turn towards her. By the fifth time he had done so, he placed his hand on her knee rubbing circles with his thumb.
The action shocked her. He wasn't one for PDA keeping a strict fearsome warrior status, but it seemed he didn't care right now. It was because of who they were around. Cara and Greef already suspected something between them long before Din and Alaina had even known themselves. The action wouldn't surprise them and they already knew how fearsome the Mandalorian was. Plus, the Mythrol was busy driving the cruiser to even notice the warriors soft gesture.
" The whole base is powered by a reactor." Greef spoke breaking the silence when they entered the canyon.
Cara turned slightly towards them," We sneak in, overload the reactor, and get the hell outta there."
" Let's be fast." Din ordered glancing at Alaina for the sixth time before to the Mythrol." And keep the speeder running."
Alaina wondered if he wanted to return to the kid and the kid as much as she did or if he was so worried about her that he just wanted to ease the anxiety that seemed to radiate off of her.
" There it is, right there." Greef gestured pointing to the large shuttle base." You see it?"
" Kind of hard not to." Alaina swallowed wondering how many stormtroopers were inside.
" How close you want me to drop you off?"
" How 'bout the front door?" Greef bargained causing the Mythrol to frown.
" It's a little close for a civilian, isn't it?"
" I got two choices for ya. You take us in and I knock a hundred years off your debt."
" Or?" The Mythrol stretched.
" Or I leave ya out here in the lava flats to walk home with whatever's left in your humidity vest." Greef snapped this time causing the Mythrol to grip the steering wheel out of nerves.
" It's not much of a choice, is it?"
Alaina stared at the fortress thinking of the positives that could come from this. The mission could run smoothly simply flooding the place from the inside and flushing all of the troopers out of Nevarro. They can get back on the cruiser, get the child, and leave heading to Corvus next without a hiccup. She shook her own head at the idea. She knew better. When has anything ever gone smoothly for them without a hiccup. The Mythrol pulled the cruiser all the way to the front of the doors parking with a gulp.
" All right. We can't go any further than this."
" Let's go." Greef coughed.
Alaina got up from her seat waiting for Din to get out before hopping out herself and taking her blaster out. So far from the bottom, no troopers stood around guarding the place from anywhere she could see.
