Caspian's POV
I can't help but keep on having flashbacks with my mom. I'm trying to hide it from Adley but it's getting harder. She knows me so well. As I'm having a flashback with my mom saying goodnight to me when I'm 4, I get back into focus at the institute and it's Alec tapping my shoulder. I jump and face him.
"Woah, are you alright Caspian?" Alec asks me
"I'm fine, just thinking, what's up?" I ask him "I saw you just standing here so I just wanted to see if you're ok." Alec tells me and I start to get anxious. "I'm fine Alec, I need to train." I need to distract myself. I walk away from him and go train. I cannot think about my mom, I can't.
Adley's POV
As I come back from a mission with mom and dad and walk into the institute with them uncle Alec comes up to me fast.
"Woah, what's up uncle Alec?" I ask him "You need to talk to Caspian. Something doesn't seem right" Uncle Alec informs me and I get scared.
"Is he ok?" I ask him as I start to panic. "He won't say what's bothering him." Uncle Alec informs me "Thanks for the information, I will talk to him now." I tell him and go find Caspian. When I do he's training but training hard. Something's definitely up
"Hey, is everything ok?" I ask him and he looks at me. "I'm fine, why?" He's still training as we're talking.
"Well my uncle Alec said he talked to you earlier and said that you seemed off. Is everything ok?" I ask him
"I'm fine Adley, nothing is bothering me. Do you mind if I just have some space today please?" Caspian asks me, something is definitely wrong.
"No Caspian, I won't let you push me away. Please talk to me, I tell you things about me now it's your turn. Please" I beg him and he looks at me angry.
"Adley please, I love you but leave me alone." He walks away from me and aunt Izzy is at the door.
"Is he ok?" She asks me "I don't think so and he won't come to me for help." I inform her and she comes up to me.
"Let him come to you. Don't force him ok, he will come to you when he's ready." Aunt Izzy advises me and I smile.
"Thanks aunt Izzy" I tell her and she puts her arm around me. "Anytime girl, he'll be ok." We go back to everyone else and Josh walks in.
"Hey Lightwoods and Herondale's and Fairchild and Bane. You guys have too many names in this family." Josh tells us and I smile at him. "What's wrong?" He asks me out of nowhere. He knows me to well.
"Caspian is upset about something and he won't talk to me about it. It's messing with his head whatever it is." I inform Josh
"I'll go talk to him." Josh suggests but I stop him by grabbing his arm as he tries to walk away.
"No, you'll make him more angry." I tell him and he stops. Scarlett, Abner and Brea come up to us and they looked flushed.
"We're you guys playing some games together by any chance?" Aunt Izzy asks them and they shake their heads yes. Than Madzie comes in and uncle Alec and uncle Magnus hug her and same with everyone else. When she gets to me she looks at me she notices something. Why does everyone know me so well?
"What's wrong cous?" Madzie asks me "Just something's off with Caspian. I'll figure it out, how was Paris and where's your man?" I change the subject
"He had to work sadly but Paris amazing as always. What's going on here?" Madzie asks us
"Same old things" Mom tells her and Caspian comes up to us and sees Madzie.
"Hello, Caspian" Madzie says to him "Hello, Madzie nice seeing you again but I gotta do something right now. Have fun guys" He tells us and as he walks away I catch up to him.
"Look, I get that you don't want to talk to me about what's going on and that's ok. You don't have to if you don't want to but what if I just want your company? Is that ok?" I ask him and Caspian sighs and looks at me.
"That's all you want?" He asks me "Yes, I promise I won't barge you with questions. You can come to me when you're ready. Promise" I tell him and he kisses my forehead.
"Thank you Adley, you're a true angel." Caspian compliments me and I smile at him. He puts his arm around me and we walk back to my family.
"Hey kiddos" We hear someone say and I turn around and it's Luke. Mom runs up to him and hugs him. When their done I go up to him and hug him next. "Each time I see you Adley you look more and more like your mother." Luke tells me and I smiles at me. Than he notices Caspian
"You must Caspian, my granddaughters boyfriend. Is he a good man Jace?" Luke asks dad and dad looks at Luke and shakes his hand side to side while saying. "Meh" I look at dad sharply and he just looks at me with no shame. "Don't worry, I never take Jace's word for anything. I will learn to trust you." Luke tells Caspian and Caspian smiles.
"Thank you sir" Caspian tells Luke "So what have I missed?" Luke asks us and we catch him up on everything.
"Seems like you've been put to harder work kiddo. Proud of you, can't wait to see it myself." Luke tells me as he puts his hand on my shoulder.
"How long will you be here for than?" Mom asks him because with how busy he is he's normally here for a day. "Actually, for the whole week. Was able to get some time off." Luke informs us and uncle Alec gets a call. When he comes up he looks at Caspian.
"Caspian, I need you for a mission with me. Now" Uncle Alec demands him "Alright" Caspian agrees and they go off. I really hope he won't be to out of focus for the mission.
