The monotonous click click clicking was abruptly interrupted by the echo of something crashing through the hallway. Michael looked up from the camera screens and glanced at the two doors in the office. He quickly flicked through the cameras again and stopped on one of the screens. Something changed... the fenced gate that was normally shut tight was now in pieces on the tiled floors. He cursed under his breath and grabbed his flashlight. He straightened his hat as he stood up and stuck his head out of the office door.
"Great, just great! Nothing can ever go right can it?... damn it... I'm really not paid enough for this... who the hell would even break into some stupid company?" Michael cursed as he walked down the hallway. His flashlight beam scanned the walls back and forth, flashing along the closed doors to office areas and supply closets scattered around the facility. He periodically stopped in his tracks to check the security cameras on his watch for anything amiss. Whoever broke into the facility likely had a watch of their own, otherwise how could they get around the hallways without being seen by him? So, it was either an employee, ex employee, or someone with the resources to get the watch another way.
In front of him now stood what once was the gated stairway to the lower levels. He looked at the busted hinges and the twisted lock. He gulped a little. Whoever did this could probably beat the crap out of him too. Imagining himself in the same twisted and broken form as the metal gate definitely wasn't a pleasant thought. He hit himself in the head lightly as he refocused on his task. They clearly went down to the lower levels, and he wasn't technically allowed to go down there. However, he knew there was a security guard on the bottom floor with higher clearance, he just didn't get the chance to talk to her much. She was kind of an asshole anyways, so it wasn't a big loss. But now he found himself regretting that he hadn't talked to her much.
His radio crackled to life as he broadcast a quick message he hoped would reach her, "This is Michael Schmidt, guard 083 stationed at the first floor security station. There is an intruder in the facility, and they appear to have broken into the staircase that leads to the basement level,"
He waited at the stairway for a response from the radio, and he was surprised to receive one rather quickly, "Message received. You are now authorized to enter the basement level in order to detain the trespasser. Stay in contact for further instruction and correspondence," the female voice responded back. She sounded pretty tired and annoyed, but he couldn't blame her.
"Roger that. I'm heading down now," Michael chirped back before sticking his radio back on his belt. He hesitantly stepped into the stairwell and flashed his light down the winding steps. He took a deep breath before finally making his way down. He had never even seen the basement floor on a map, let alone been down there. Now was not the time for exploring however. He needed to do his job and find this intruder.

Gregory had pulled one of the screws out of the vent and was now kicking it around the room to try and keep himself occupied. His old room had a toy ball. He clearly lost that privilege when he escaped the facility. Lizzie had been working hard to find him a way out, but it was starting to look hopeless on that end. She had however found where some of the kids were being held captive in the facility. They currently only had 1 child held captive there, and he suspected that it was the same boy he had been tasked with patching up recently.
He honestly had a hard time telling how quickly time was passing down here. It had at least been a week since he was brought back, but it may be even longer than that. The screw hit the wall with a clink and he went over to pick it up. He sighed as he screwed it back into the vent. His eyes unconsciously drifted to the door and the small window. The security guard was stationed there as always. She would nod off now and then, but the second he made even the slightest noise, she would flinch and wake right back up. She seemed more like a machine than he was.
