Freddy carried Gregory into the van and sat him down on the couch. He moved to the front of the van to text the gang to get ready to leave. When he was finished, he turned back around to see the kid slumped on the couch with his eyelids fluttering open and closed, his joints twitching weirdly. Freddy quickly scrambled into the back of the van and waved his hands around Gregory, not sure if he should touch him right now. He eventually fought back his hesitance and braced his hands on the kids shoulders."Gregory? You okay?" He asked him. He couldn't mask the panic in his voice unfortunately.
Gregory sputtered lightly, "M-M-Malfuncti-ti-tion,"
Freddy only panicked more as he tried to think of what to do. He could only watch helplessly as the kid slumped further before eventually freezing up. His whole body went loose like some kind of rag doll puppet off its strings.
He watched the kid for a moment before shaking him lightly, "Gregory? Hey, you in there kid? Oh gosh what if he's broken?! Oh heck what am I supposed to do if he's broken?!"
Freddy waited a bit longer before he stood up and started pacing around the van. He really shouldn't have agreed to drive the kid to Blue Bonnet. He should've just called them! He wasn't qualified to take care of this robot kid. He didn't even know what had happened here! He could barely keep the van from falling apart without Ford's help, let alone a robot kid!
His phone beeped and broke the silence. He looked at the response to his earlier text and only panicked more. The gang was coming back! He needed to quickly think of something. He picked Gregory up and was only more concerned at how limp and lifeless he seemed now. It was horrifying to think that this robot kid was all cheery and lively just a few minutes ago. He set him down in the passenger seat and sat in the drivers seat with his hands anxiously clutching the steering wheel. He sucked in a deep breath to calm himself and steeled his expression.
Freddy nearly jumped out of his skin when he felt something wrap around his arm. He whipped his head over to see Gregory sitting up a little, his small hand on Freddy. He shot the kid a worried look as the boy groaned and held his head with his other hand.
"I-I'm okay..." Gregory said as he looked up at Freddy and gave him a tired smile.
Freddy slowly nodded as the boy let go of him. He watched as he slipped his hand under his shirt and opened up a hidden hatch. Out of it fell a bunch of sand, to which Gregory and Freddy both winced.
"Note to self, avoid sand..." Freddy remarked.
"Agreed," Gregory spoke as he quickly shut the hatch and tried to discreetly kick away the pile of sand with mild embarrassment. He turned back to Freddy and blinked tiredly.
"I might go offline again, but don't worry! My systems are just going to reboot to make sure there's nothing wrong and conserve power. Getting all of at sand out tired me out..." the kid rubbed his eyes and couldn't suppress the urge to yawn.
Freddy smiled faintly now. He was relieved Gregory was okay. He was still worried, but he could only trust the kid's judgement. He watched as the kid leaned back in the passenger seat and slowly fell asleep.
Freddy tried not to think too hard about it as he watched Gregory into the front seat. He almost looked like he was asleep, the only dead giveaway was that his chest didn't expand and contract. Other than that, Blue Bonnet really did succeed in making a lifelike AI animatronic. Even though he knew he wasn't human, Freddy had a hard time with the whole idea. Could he really bring Gregory back to Blue Bonnet? What would happen to him there? We're there more robots like Gregory at their headquarters? Why did they make Gregory? Would they make more AI animatronics like him to sell? It all just felt... wrong...
