All I could remember was training to fight. I need to be the best soldier I could be. All I could feel was the pain. If I wasn't the best I was punished. Punishments could be something from food deprivation to physical beatings, which was their favorite. Beating me was what they seemed to believe was the most effective way to make me better, even though I was already a high-ranked soldier. I was among the best of the best. That's what they needed to protect The Winter Soldier.

They frequently put me out on missions with him. My job was to protect him, if anyone attempted to compromise his missions it was my responsibility to eliminate the threat. Make sure that the missions went over smoothly. When I wasn't out helping on missions I was his sparring partner, all of our time was spent with one another, protecting each other or beating the shit out of each other. No one else was strong enough to be competition for him without dying immediately. If I refused to fight, took it too easy on him, or disobeyed any other orders I would be punished. I had no choices, everything was taken from me, my name, my memories, I have no idea where I came from or what my life was like before this, all I knew was that I had to fight for and protect him.

I crouched behind a car while the Winter Soldier fought another man, the man had light blond hair and was carrying around a shield-type object. His partners were a woman with long red hair and another man who had something that looked like robotic wings.
I suddenly felt an arm wrap around my neck, dragging me away from the car as I struggled to get my footing. Letting out an animalistic growl as I reached back at the person, placing one hand on their wrist, digging my nails into their skin. I brought my free arm and swung it back bringing my elbow up to strike them in the chin, causing them to let me go. I quickly got to my feet before pulling a Glock 17 out of the holster strapped to my legs, aiming it right between their eyes. It was the red-haired woman, all she did was smile up at her before my attention was quickly focused on the silence.
The fighting came to a stop and I heard talking in the distance but couldn't make out what they were saying, before I knew it the bird guy flew above my head towards my partner, knocking The Soldier straight to the ground.
I began to run towards him as I changed my aim to fire at them when suddenly a car by where The Soldier landed exploded. I used the cover from the smoke to run over and grab The Soldier before dragging him away, fleeing to cover.

Once we had reached safety all I heard was him mumbling to himself. "Who is Bucky?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" I growled softly as I tried to get his attention. "What the fuck was all of that about? You could have blown it." I huffed as I kicked a piece of metal that lay on the ground in front of me, it bouncing off the wall and flying right back at me. "They are going to take us back and punish us. We were supposed to kill them."
The Soldier looked confused, his mind was elsewhere. He never showed any emotion but it was obvious that this was bothering him. "I knew him..."
"Maybe from another mission. But we need to go back, report to HYDRA." I began to panic while I continued to peek out of our hiding spot, trying to figure out how we were going to get back.
My partner walked over to the wall and slid down it, sitting on the ground. "I don't think so, O. I think he was from my past."
Once they found us they secured us, like cattle. The same way they always do. 'For protection' from us.

When we got back they took us into a closed-off room while we waited. I stood off to the side and waited, quietly observing the commotion while they fixed The Winter Soldier's metal arm. It had been damaged in the fight and needed to be repaired before we could go back out on another mission.
A taller, older man, Alexander Pierce, stormed through the door and walked straight over to The Soldier, who was now sitting up to look at him. "Mission Report."
The Soldier sat quietly, just blankly staring at Pierce.
"I said mission report Soldier." The man repeated himself, more stern this time.
The tone of his voice made me shake in my boots. I waited a couple of seconds but The Soldier still didn't say a word. Didn't even open his mouth to take a breath. I took a slight step forward before I opened my mouth. "We were able to ambush them-". I only got a few words out before he cut me off.
"I do not believe I was speaking to you, Osiris." He didn't even take his eyes off The Soldier, just lifted a hand at me signaling me to shut my mouth.
I nodded my head before taking a step back to my original position, my hands resting behind my back as I dug my nails into my forearm, trying to hold back a total breakdown. Fear intensified throughout my body the longer The Soldier didn't speak.
"I knew that man..." The Soldier finally opened his mouth. "Who is Bucky?"
"Wipe him." The old man quickly spun around before pointing at me. "Take her back to her room."
My heart sank to my stomach. As they escorted me back to my room, all I could hear were blood-curdling screams coming from the room they removed me from. They threw me into my room and immediately locked the door behind me. My emotions were finally overwhelming my body as I dropped down to my knees, bringing my hands up to my head trying to block out the cry of agony that echoed through the empty halls of this damned prison. I have no idea what they were doing to him, my body knew the heartache it caused and the fear. Every fiber of my being felt afraid of what was happening.

After what felt like days, one of HYDRA's men had finally come to retrieve me. They escorted me to a meeting room where The Winter Soldier and Pierce sat quietly, both with mission plans in front of them. They had already been over what needed to be done. They never really queued me in on what needed to be done anyway. My job, as I stated before, is to protect The Winter Soldier.
"You have another mission, you will be leaving now," Pierce said as soon as the door closed behind me. Not even turning around to look at me. "If this goes anywhere near as bad as your last mission did you will regret it."
I nodded, "Yes sir." My words sounded pathetic compared to his. My nerves took hold of me and made me sound like a tiny mouse compared to the men in the room.
From what I was told, our mission was to make sure that the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarriers were to launch no matter what. They were able to get us into the base through the underground tunnels, after that all we had to do was wait until the ships had lifted off. Once The Soldier had gotten the command to move we made our way to a jet. He easily took out everyone attempting to get in the way. We needed to make it up to the third helicarrier, the only one not already taken back by Captain America.
When we landed on the helicarrier, Soldier got straight to work, running straight into battle with the bird guy. I tried to stay back, staying out of the way all while fighting off anyone who attempted to help. Closely following behind as we made our way under the ship.
I stood back as he guarded the core, where all of the data chips were held. Soon after arriving, we were met by the shield-wielding hero. The Soldier launched straight into combat as soon as the man got close enough. They were almost a perfect match in combat, quickly launching themselves down to the glass below.
I made my way down to them, trying to be as quiet as I could as the Captain had my partner pinned down on the ground. The Soldier grunted in pain as his arm snapped under the Captain's weight before his body went limp. I let out a loud yell as I lunged at the Captain. Pulling him down to the ground as I dug my dagger straight into the wound that the Soldier had already made with his own. The Captain was easily able to overpower me, flipping me over onto my back and placing his hand on my chest to hold me down before he came to a sudden stop. His whole expression changed as he reached to pull my mask down. My hands reached up to grab at his throat while I growled at him.
"No." He said softly as he studied my face, "Melody?"
I reached down for my gun and quickly pulled it out to aim it at his head. "I don't know who you are. But I do know you do not know me."
Before I could even get a shot off he had pulled his shield to protect himself, running back up the stairs towards the computer.
BANG!
I turn my head to see the Soldier standing up, gun aimed at the Captain while the Captain falls to the ground. I sit myself up before everything begins to shake around us. Metal beams begin to fall from the ship above us before all I can hear is cries of pain. My head spins to see the Soldier crushed underneath a large metal beam. I rush over to him, using all of my strength to try and lift the beam off of him, tears beginning to run down my face as I struggle to help my partner.
After a couple of seconds, the beam starts to lift. I turn my head to see the Captain lifting the beam with me before the Soldier crawls out, immediately launching himself at the Captain. Laying punch after punch into him, screaming at the same time. I couldn't make out his words. I stayed back, trying to catch my breath before I heard a loud crash; another beam. It shattered the glass beneath us, causing us to fall into the water. Then everything went black, I couldn't feel anything. No pain. No emotions. Just nothing. Quiet, peaceful nothing.
