Ch 2: Cal Kestis

I stood in between Plo-Koon and Luminara Unduli as Jabba the Hutt's translater talked in a hologram.

"Jabba requests that anyone who can help us find his kidnapped son, send any information they have immediately" it said.

"We must help Jabba. This is the opportunity we've been looking for" Chancellor Palpatine said. "The Jedi must rescue Jabba'a son."

"I don't like it, dealing with that criminal scum" I said. "There's more to this kidnapping."

"This is a dark day for the Republic" Mace said.

"I agree, my friend but what choice do we have?" He asked. "The Hutts control the outer rim and we'll need their space lanes in order to move our troops."

"I agree with Organa, something feels off" Mace said.

"Then you must send as many Jedi as you can" he said.

Mace and the chancellor began walking towards the door as we followed.

"Impossible, chancellor" Mace said. "The droid General Grievous has our forces spread thin. The only Jedi we can spare are Skywalker and Kenobi."

My head jolted up at the name. Anakin and I hadn't seen each other in days.

"They just captured the planet Christophsis" he continued.

"Contact them immediately" the chancellor said.

I bowed to Luminara and Plo-Koon leaving Mace to find Yoda to try and get into contact with Anakin and Obi-Wan. I began walking to my quarters as a young boy ran into me.

"Oh- I'm sorry" he said.

"It's okay" I smiled.

I walked away as he began stuttering.

"A-a-are you Luna Organa?" He asked.

"I am" I said turning around. "How can I help you?"

"I'm your new padawan" he said.

"Oh" I said. "I wasn't aware I was assigned one nor did I sign up."

"Master Yoda and Master Windu thought it would be a good idea" he said.

I looked at him feeling something different about him.

"Well then" I said. "We better get going."

He followed closely behind as we passed by a Togruta running down the hall.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Cal. Cal Kestis" he said.

I smiled as Mace approached us.

"I'm going to need you and your new padawan to go to Tatooine" he said.

"Thanks for the heads up by the way" I said. "Why are we going to Tatooine? To talk to Jabba?"

"I don't trust him" he aaid. "I sense there is something going on, beyond this kidnapping."

"Does the council know about this?" I asked.

"Not exactly" he said.

"Pulling an Anakin?" I smirked.

He didn't find that comment amusing as I patted his back walking away.

"Sorry, Master" I said. "Didn't think that was funny I see."

Cal and I made our way to a ship as an R-3 droid came with us. I turned the ship on as Cal sat down. Soon we left Coruscant as we prepared to enter hyper space.
