I stood beside Mace as we stared into the battlefield.
"Is it really okay to use?" I asked.
He shrugged as Doge Urus turned to the hologram of Chancellor Palpatine.
"I won't allow my people to become Separatist slaves" he said.
"I assure you, Doge Urus, that will not happen" Palpatine said. "Dr. Boil has stated that only droids will be affected by the bombs electron field."
"Yes, the clones and your people will be quite safe" she said. "We have counted for every probable outcome."
"It's the improbable that concerns me, doctor" Mace said. "There must be other options."
"I'm afraid not" Palpatine said. "This bomb is our only hope for victory now."
"The droids are on the move" I said.
I sighed, turning to Mace who nodded.
"Tell the bombers to take off" I said holding up my arm.
I watched as the ships took off towards the droid army.
"Remember, you've only got one shot at this" I said.
"Bombs away" he said.
The bomb hit the ground as an electro field exploded.
"Here it comes!" I said.
I closed my eyes as the field passed us.
"Well, doc, looks like it worked" I said. "Sorry I had doubts."
My eyes widened as the ground sunk.
"The ground is sinking!" Mace said.
We walked inside to the command center as a transmission from Chancellor Palpatine went through.
"The droid army was compeltely neutralized by the bomb. But the bomb created a sinkhole which engulfed many of our troops" Mace said. "We have search parties looking for them now."
"And the Dugs? Have they signed the treaty?" Palpatine asked.
"No, chancellor, the treaty must be passed by the council" Urus said.
"We need that treaty signed so we can gain access to the fuel reserves here on Malastare" he said. "Without it, our armies shall be vulnerable."
Gree turned to us as the transmission ended.
"Sir, we have a report from the front" he said. "They've lost contact with the rescue team."
"One problem always seems to replace another" Mace said.
We got on a shuttle as Urus glared at me.
"I hope your bomb has not upset the delicate balance of our planet" he said.
I rolled my eyes as we landed. Mace stayed on the shuttle as I got off.
"You deal with the treaty and Doge Urus" he said. "I'll help the rescue team in the crater."
I nodded walking after Urus.
"We're on a very tight timeline here" I said. "How long do you think it'll take to get the treaty ratified?"
"We are waiting for two more members of the council to arrive" Urus said. "They will sign the treaty."
"We appreciate your cooperation" I said. "Without your fuel, our offensive will grind to a halt."
"This is the beginning of a great alliance" he said.
I forced a smile as my comm beeped.
"Luna, something strange is going on" Mace said. "I think you should come down here."
"I'm on my way" I said. "R-2 prep my fighter. If you'll excuse me."
I jumped into my ship as we flew down.
"Luna!" Mace yelled.
"I'm here, I'm here" I said.
"We need your help!" He said.
As we flew further, fog blocked my vision.
"R-2 I can't see. Turn on your beacon" I said.
A beast of some kind with glowing eyes looked at me.
"Never mind" I said.
I circled around it, trying to get a better look as Mace and the men escaped.
"What the heck is that thing!" I said.
The beast roared as its tail hit my ship. We crashed as I broke the glass to get out. I jumped out before getting R-2.
"R-2 get out of here" I said. "Anakin will kill me if you are not in one piece when I give you back."
I grabbed my sabers before jumping onto the beast. I attempted to slash it, to no avail as the scales protected it.
"What?" I said.
I ran up its leg to the top of its head before jumping onto R-2. He squeled as the beast tried to swat us. We fell to the ground once we met the surface. I slowly sat up grabbing my stomach.
"Don't worry about me, master" I said. "I'm all right."
"Where's your fighter?" Mace asked kneeling down.
"That thing ate it!" I said.
"That thing is a Zillo Beast" Urus said. "They once roamed Malastare, devouring our ancestors. When the Dugs first started harvesting fuel in the planets core they were killed off. They are supposed to be extinct. Apparently they are not."
I looked at Mace as bombs were sent into the pit in an attempt to kill the beast. I walked alongside him as we went to talk to Urus. Mace slammed his fist on the table as we walked into the tent.
"What is going on out there!" He said.
"It is an internal matter" Urus said. "None of your concern."
"Your men are killing a unique life form" I said.
"It is a dangerous, bloodthirsty monster!" He said. "Did you forget that it tried to kill you?"
"It was under attack" Mace said. "It had lived peacefully below the surface for all these years."
"Until you unleashed it with your bomb!" He said.
"We dropped that bomb to save your planet, at your request might I say" I said.
"To save our fuel for you to buy" he said. "If you want us to sign your treaty then you must help us destroy the beast."
"What purpose would it serve to kill it?" Mace asked. "If it really is the last of its kind-"
"It is our duty!" Urus interrupted. "Our ancestors warned us that one would return someday and destroy our entire civilization. Will you help us or not?"
"I respect your traditions and your ancestors but we cannot allow the destruction of an innocent life form" he said.
"Then there will be no treaty" Urus said.
I looked at Mace.
"That went well" I said.
"Listen well, little one" he said. "We can't let the Dugs kill that creature."
"I'm not little anymore" I said.
"You'll always be little to me" he said with a faint smile.
I smiled as we went to brief the chancellor on the beast.
