Chapter 8

Kotaro's POV

I turned at looked at girl and the end of my arm.

'Skill used: Absorption. Absorbing honkai energy from the candidate.'

I weakened the herrcher's energy in her so that it wouldn't take control. I stopped when I saw red lines accompanied with pain run up my hand. It seems like the resistance is not enough.

"Now then, young lady what do you think you were doing?" I raised her a bit up and asked her.

She looked at me sadly. "Please let go. I don't want to hurt you and Kiana."

"No."

"Please let go. I killed all our classmates just because I was angry at them for hating me. Maybe I deserved to be hated after all."

"No. That was not you. That was the herrscher."

"HOW DO YOU KNOW IT WAS NOT ME! I HATED THEM! THEY HATED ME!" She screamed at me.

"Everyone hates me...." She said it in low voice.

"The Mei I have been with my entirety of these months is a kind and soft girl, she would never hurt someone willingly. And what do you mean everyone hates you. If everyone hates you what am I and Kiana? Chopped meat? Wait, in Kiana's case it would be chopped tuna."

"I HEARD THAT!" We heard Kiana's voice from behind me.

"Pfft" I heard a cute chuckle from the end of my arm. Mei was smiling weakly.

"Ready to come back to us?"

She hesitated. "What if I hurt you guys because of her?"

"You won't. Trust me." I smiled at her reassuringly. She smiled back and I pulled her back up.

Once I pulled her up both of us were pulled into a hug by Kiana who almost seemed to be in tears.

"Mei-senpai,..*sniff*...I almost thought I lost you!!" She tightened her hug as Mei smiled wryly.

"Sorry Kiana-chan. It won't happen again." Mei hugged her back.

"Well we better get out of here." I said as I picked up a bit bent bat lying around and tossed to Kiana.

"But there's too many zombies in school ." Kiana said as she inspected the damage on the bat and waved 'it's ok' to Mei who looked apologetic for damaging the bat.

Ahaha..I really don't want to tell them that finished all the zombies on the way here. I'd rather they think that I'm just weak with bit of resistance.

"How about this?" I walked near the door and opened a wall attached box which showed a huge rope which looked strong enough.

"That's convenient! But why is there a rope there." Kiana looked curious.

"It's for emergencies in case the fire escape cannot be used." Mei said holding her chin and Kiana nodded.

As they were speaking, I took the rope and tied one end to the handle like thing in the box which looked strong enough to hold weight and other I threw off the roof and it reached the ground.

"Mei! Kiana! Let's go." They looked at me and walked to me. Kiana was the first to go but Mei looked hesitant.

"Want me to carry you?" I asked her.

"I-I'm fine!" She blushed and climbed down the rope.

Now my turn to go. I grabbed the rope and descended.
