Kotaro's POV

"I really love this place, you know...The clear blue sky, it's reflection in this water-like land and the ripples my footsteps cause each time I take a step."

Truly a peaceful atmosphere in here.

"Leaving that aside, why so serious.. Vita?"

When I asked her, she gave me an annoyed look.

Unlike her usual kimono like attire, she was in blue shorts and a yellow T-shirt. Her clothes along with her annoyed expression and short stature, gave me the impression of an angry teenager.

"Do you have any idea, what is happening to you?" She asked angrily.

"I'm dying?"

".......And the reason?"

"Because I messed around the imaginary tree."

"Exactly!" She pointed angrily at me. "Why would you mess around with something like that?! Don't you value your life?! It's even a surprise that you didn't die back then."

"But I didn't." I replied with a calm smile. "And I was aware that I wouldn't."

She looked surprised for a second and stepped back.

"H-How?"

"Besides.....Enough I didn't use the imaginary tree, I would have died later anyway." I deliberately changed the topic and she complied.

"...What do you mean?"

"Absorption. It is truly a useful skill which has helped me the most so far. Naturally absorbing the honkai around me made me stronger everyday."

"It's perfect skill but even the perfect skill can be dangerous in the wrong body. There's a limit to how much honkai my body can take. And the excess honkai is already rotting my body from the inside."

"My body has lasted for about 4 years with that skill, but it's reaching its limit. And staying in the moon is not doing me favors, considering I'm staying close to the herrschers, and not to mention the remains of finality." I said completing my explanation.

"............" Vita silently looked away with a bitter expression.

"But that doesn't mean you should use the tree. You could have more time if you didn't."

"Not really. At most, I would have had a few months, that's it." I said nonchalantly.

"......Leave those girls and go back to Earth. Let them solve their own problems!" She said.

"I refuse."

"But....then...ugh.." She shook her head frustrated, trying to come up with a solution.

Seeing her genuine reaction to help me made me smile and pat her head.

"Relax. It's all going according to plan."

"But you...." She calmed down slowly.

"Trust me." I said resolutely.

"...........Alright. Do as you please." She made a bitter expression and turned away.

Something soft was below my head, making me struggle to open my eyes, due to the comfort and warmth.

"Nii-sama? Are you awake?"

I slowly opened my eyes and saw Bronya's face in front.
