Kotaro's POV

Darkness and more darkness.

Either she doesn't have the capability to dream or it's just that she prefers her dreams on the darker side. I'm not gonna judge, totally not.

All I'm doing is floating around after all. And it's much easier than scrambling around in the dark.

I delved farther into the darkness. It may be completely dark yet the space itself wasn't empty. There were several blocks of data all scattered around in the dark.

It may be because I was in a spiritual or more data-like state but I could feel the influence over this space like it's my own body.

I'll just have to free Ai and get her out there..and fast. I can't bear to miss Theresa's temporary change.

That would be tragic.

I finally spotted a sliver of green amidst the darkness and descended near her.

My feet landed on the ground or it appeared. After all I couldn't feel the surface under my feet.

I looked down at the cabbage girl who was sleeping peacefully as if the world wasn't in utter chaos. Unlike Ai from the ship, she was grown in more ways than one. Her usual cabbage hair was tied in pigtails now. Too bad, I kinda liked that too.

I hovered my hand over her head.

First thing to do would be to link my consciousness to hers.

I would prefer to wake her up the normal way like shaking her or the special move I used on my sister. The magic slap.

Well..she would chase me around in retaliation afterwards but it would always make up for a good morning exercise.

Her figure became more visible as our consciousness linked.

Her eyes twitched and opened slowly.

"......Mm..where...am I?" She asked while rubbing her eyes.

She looked around in confusion until she came to her senses and remembered what happened before she got caught.

"Am I in my own dream? There's nothing here..."

"Well....the way I moved about in the pseudotime crystal is close to how humans dream." She said as she put on a thoughtful expression.

"So even if I'm trapped in a dream, I'm incapable of dreaming new things. After all, I'm just a recorder, not a creator, of stories." She said in a dispirited tone as she stood up.

"I wonder how the others are doing. According to the future I saw earlier, they should be safe."

A wave of confusion passed her face and she held her head in confusion.

"Something...doesn't feel right. Did I forget something?" She said in a low murmur.

'Did I forget to lock the door?'

Is what I would worry if she was me. But she's not me and I didn't forget to lock the door.

I'm 100% sure I locked it.

I definitely locked it.

It was the front door, right?

.....I did lock it, right?

".....I better get out of here." Her voice woke me from my eternal dilemma of doors.

Her eyes flitted around, searching for even a tiny bit of light in this enclosed pit of darkness.

"Too dark....How do I get out of here?"

So I said, Let there be light.

And Voila! The surroundings lit up and allowed her orange eyes to gaze at them.
