Kotaro's POV

We stood in a dark alley amidst tall buildings, surrounded by the cold breeze from the street. Neon signs in the distance painted the night with vivid colors, while the stars glinted overhead. The city's hum provided a soothing background to the scene.

Taking a single step forward, Theresa cast a gaze upon the street, her eyes glinted with nostalgia.

"Is something wrong?" Seele asked a bit worried at Theresa's reaction.

"Ah. This place is similar to another in my memories. So, it made me a bit emotional." She let out a small laugh and turned to us.

"Let's focus on the operation at hand. Let's split up and find out more about this dreamland from the people here."

"Leave it to me!" Seele says enthusiastically and runs off.

Theresa turned to look at me.

"......."

"You're standing in a daze again."

"I'm just thinking that's all. I'll also get going." I said and walked into the street.

Considering that Seele and Theresa were taking the left, I decided to go right and eventually meet up with them.

The street was bathed in a pool of soft glow by the vigilant streetlights above, producing a slight gloomy atmosphere. Looking to my right, I noticed people standing, so I made my way towards them.

Their eyes lacked focus, and ocassional unintelligible murmurs slipped from their lips. A heavy silence enveloped them, and their ghostly demeanor gave them an otherworldly air, resembling ghosts rather than the living.

It wasn't difficult to conclude that they were in their own dream world.

I walked past and found myself in a park soon enough. The park was illuminated by the an old light. It was bright, but all it did was create more of an eerie feeling.

I walked on the path round the park, there were people here too, in the same state as of those outside, of course.

As I looked around, my eyes fell on a lone bench. The sole occupant of the bench was a bright green haired girl. Her hair seemed to shine due to the park light directly above her. Wrapped in a cozy jacket, a subtle curve in her lips and her eyes looking in the distance. She was....waiting for someone.

I remember her. She's a student of St.Freya. Mei introduced her as top student of the freshmen once. Mei was something of a tutor to her.

Most of the valkyries from St.Freya were sent, along with their families either to the far east branch or Schicksal on the pretext of work, until St.Freya reopened of course.

So, there is a very low chance for her to be here. Unless..

"......." She doesn't seem to be in a daze like others. So, I better 'wake' her up and join with Theresa and Seele.

She didn't seem to notice me even when I sat next to her.

"It's been a while, Perline."

She finally moved from her day dreaming and looked at me. She stared for a few seconds as if unable to recognize me, then her eyes widened in recognition.

"Senpai! It really has been a while." She said smiling.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm waiting for Akila to come back. He went to get a drink for us." She said brightly.

"...Heh? A date?" I asked with a smirk.

She blushed brightly and looked away.

"T-That's not it. W-We were just hanging out." She said between stutters.
