The day has come.
9 months.
"Just a little harder!!" The nurses and doctors encouraged Rona. "They are coming out!!!"
Rona bit her lips as she pushed as hard as she could.
She knew this would be painful, but never did she expect the pain at such an excruciating level.
Rona held in her screams, biting only her lips until she could almost taste the bitterness of the fresh blood.
"She's losing a lot of blood!"
"Get the doctors!"
"Rona! Breathe!"
"Stay with us!"
Rona was drowsy, weak, she didn't know if she could hold on any longer.
But, mothers are the strongest.
After a few hard pushes, wailing sounds rang the surgery room.
Clear wailing sounds.
The sounds of life.
"Congratulations Rona!" The doctor in charge smiled to Rona, "you did a great job."
They cut the umbilical cord and brought the two babies before Rona, laying them on her chest.
"A little boy and a little girl, congratulations again."
Rona felt the two warm little bodies laying on top of her chest, still wailing, crying, catching their first breath of air. Their eyes were still tight closed, but Rona could already see how beautiful they were.
"They...are...so small." That's all Rona could say at that moment. Her silly comment brought everyone in the surgery room into laughter.
"They are." The doctor in charge spoke. She smiled and gestured the nurses to bring the twins into care as they finish up the surgery and take Rona to her rest.
Rona didn't know how long had she been unconscious. She just felt a surge of weakness in her muscles as she woke up, as if she had ran to the gym continuously for hours.
"Rona?" Chanseok immediately stood as he saw Rona woke up from her trance.
Dr Lee and the doctor in charge of Rona's birth came to Rona's side. They did a few checkups on Rona to make sure everything was fine.
"How are you feeling?" Chanseok spoke.
"How long was I out?" Rona spoke weakly.
"2 days." Dr Alvin Lee smiled, "but you are all good and fine."
"You must been really exhausted, Rona." The obstretician in charge smiled at Rona. "You missed hanging out with your little twins for two days."
Rona immediately brightened up from her tiredness, hearing the notification about her children.
"Where are they?" Rona spoke, gesturing Chanseok to help her up.
Chanseok slowly lifted Rona to a sitting position as the obstretician in charge pushed in two carts into the room.
"Healthy as a bull." She teased.
Rona feel tears filling up in her eyes. She was so relieved and thrilled that her little angels are back.
