54 Desire is...a yearning

"Are Rohoon and Seokna our children?"

Seokhoon looked into Rona's eyes and he wanted to know was if this was all true. If it was true, he shall take no hesitation to take her back. To repent himself and kneel before her for forgiveness. He would fight his father, fight everyone coming in his way. He shall not be a coward anymore. He shall fight till the end for his, one and only, love.

Rona had a mix of feelings within her. Her heart quivered. She had the urge to tell Seokhoon that everything was true, but her tongue was tied. She couldn't tell Seokhoon and she didn't want to. She would never let her children return to that dangerous and depressing house the Joos call home.

But Rona also knew...her heart was still beating for Seokhoon.

Every touch, every breathe they breathed, every emotion that surrounded them, was pushing them, closer to each other.

And yet,

She chose to stay silent.

What's the point of telling him, when nothing could and would change even he had known the truth? Neither him, or I shall be able to make any changes to our lives.

Rona looked down to the ground before directing her sight firmly back to the male before him, releasing his grip on her wrist.

She smirked.

"Who said they were yours?"

Rona walked away, wanting to escape from Seokhoon, but she was only held back by the wrist.

"There is no reason for you to name them that..." Seokhoon stuttered at his words, a surge of sadness entered him. How he wished, she would say yes, and that he could reunite with his true love.

"If it wasn't for our children, if we hadn't had...love between us."

Rona turned her back towards Seokhoon so he couldn't see her tears.

"They are not yours."

"Impossible."

Rona raged. She turned to Seokhoon and swung her hand away from his grip, in a relatively aggressive behaviour.

"Joo Seokhoon! Who are you to determined things like this? I have a family now. A happy one. We both have our own families! And how are you so sure that these kids are yours? Why do you question me like so, when you, were the one that destroyed everything! Every possibility that you think would happen, will never happen."

Seokhoon stood, tears fell. His hands were at the verge of holding Rona's hands one again, and the verge of crushing his own bones so he could punish himself for his faults. 

"Rona..." His lips trembled. "For the past five years, I have never forgotten about you. I have never given up searching for you. I have never let you off my mind. I have never had any contact with any women...I only... worked...worked hard so I may have the bravery to stand before you once again, if we meet."

Rona looked away, wiping the tears off her face before she turned to the man. How can she not have known those truth... she knew Seokhoon would not stop working, nor searching for her. 

But with a determined tone, she spoke.

"But I have given up on you."

That moment, it shattered Seokhoon's heart.

He knew he had broken Rona, he was guilty. But he had never thought he had sinned so much.

"Since the day you chose Yonghwa over me, that you joined in union with her... I have given up upon you and everything you shall say to me."
