Rona softly hummed a lullaby as she admired the adorable little cheeks of her children and Yeonsu, crammed into one bed after begging to be by each other's side before sleep.Rona and Mina sat on two sides of the bed, with Yeonsu and Rohoon on the side and Seokna stuck in the middle of her two brothers.
Mina sat on the side of the bed, brushing Yeonsu's hair while Rona caressed Seokna's cheeks and gently patted on Rohoon's shoulder.
Soon, under the magical tune Rona had hummed, the three fell into a deep sleep, snuggling next to each other.
Mina directed a look to Rona, and mouthed, "beer?"
Rona nodded and smiled as Mina lifted herself from the bed and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
Rona took one last look at the wonderful children, gently lifted herself up from the bed and moved quietly towards the balcony.
She had her eyes closed, feeling the soft chilly breeze flowing across her skin and hair.
Mina saw Rona seated at one of the beach benches. Lost in her imagination.
"Maekju (beer) and banchan (side dishes)."
Mina spoke as she gently placed the dishes on the coffee table between their benches, waking Rona up from her imagination.
"Thank you, Mina."
Mina smiled and headed indoors to grab two blankets.
"Be careful. Don't catch a cold." Mina smiled as she adjusted the blanket over Rona. Rona smiled at Mina's gesture. Mina sat down by Rona's side on the other beach bench and placed the blanket over herself as well.
The two ladies who had once taken care of this Joo Household observed its night scenery.
The two ladies took the cold beer and flipped it open, clinking the cans together, they sipped onto the bitter wheat beer.
Rona looked to the shining moon above them, sighing.
"After tonight, everything ends."
Mina looked at Rona. Even if Rona didn't mention her sorrowful heart, she could see it. It was too apparent, it had surfaced to her expressions that she didn't even realise herself.
"What's your decision, Rona... are you, really able to leave all of this behind?"
Rona placed her beer down and tugged her legs closer to herself.
"Too late for any regrets. Six years. I have grown out of any sense of love. I have bounds around me, my children, my career, I would not abandon any of them for the sake of a selfish heart."
"I understand, but..." Mina recalled her words to Joo Dan Tae that day she announced her departure once again.
"Love, cannot be explained."
Rona looked to Mina when she spoke that sentence.
"Love...it's complicated." Rona smiled bitterly. "One has desires, but one, does not reside or oblige to desires completely. We cannot be all selfish."
"But six years is long enough to be selfish for once," Mina spoke. In a sense, she did want to repent her mistakes as being one of the people guilty of breaking Rona and Seokhoon apart, but also she believed these two weren't meant to be apart.
"Mina," Rona spoke in a determined tone. "I swear, I love Seokhoon. I do. But, I can't see our future as more than just...friends. Or parents of our children." Rona breathed with an ache in her heart. "At least for now."
