You woke up on a friday morning to the bright sunlight hitting your eyes through your window. You rubbed your eyes while sitting up at your bedside to get up. You stood up from your bed, slipped your feet into two light green slippers that were waiting for you on the floor by your bedside and walked over to your bathroom. Your yellow night gown flowed as you made your way to the bathroom sink. You looked in the mirror before splashing cold water onto your face to wake yourself up. You brushed your hair before picking out a peach-coloured dress that reached just above your knees and a pair of peachy high heels to match. You did your makeup quickly before putting on your brimmed hat. You quickly grabbed a red apple from the fruit basket on your counter and started heading to work.

War had just broke out, but you chose to ignore it and go about your days in peace. Life in Porthaven hadn't changed that much since the war broke out, just a couple of extra guards here and there. They didn't bother you much and you were very happy about that.

Your shift at the cafe was later then usual today, so at this time of day it was rush hours. All around you were soliders wearing blue jackets with red pants, red and blue hats and tall boots guarding the city carrying long guns. Some of them smiled at you and you smiled back. There were many couples walking hand in hand while smiling and laughing. You hadn't been in a relationship for a long time and you kind of missed it, but you shrugged off that nagging feeling and continued walking.

You finally made your way to the cafe and the sweet smell of freshly baked pasteries made its way to you as you were greeted by your friend, Stephanie. You smiled at her while walking to your white apron. You grabbed it and out it on, put your hair up in a bun and started to arrange various cakes and other pasteries behind the glass showcase. You enjoyed the sweet smell of icing and sugar while you hummed on a song that had been stuck on your mind lately.

Stephanie stood at the cash register and three of your other co-workers were in the kitchen baking. Even though the cafe was small, many people still came in to have a cup of coffee, go on dates with a significant other or even study. There were different plants placed around in the cafe, some paintings hanging on the walls and wooden chairs with pink pillows on them. The cafe had gotten offers from bigger companies of expanding, but the owners had declined as they wanted to keep the original building. The building itself was buildt out of red-like bricks with green vines climbing up the walls and was placed in between two larger buildings. Almost sqeezed in between them. It had two floors: the lower one, that was the main cafe, and the upper one that had two rooms; one that worked as a little lounge for the workers and the other that worked as the managers office. It was quite the nice place to work.

"Did you sleep well?" asked Stephanie as she waved goodbye to a customer that was walking out with a pink cupcake in his hand. "I did, what about you?" you answered as you stood up from the showcase feeling pretty happy about your arrangement of pasteries. "It was quite difficult falling asleep because of all the airships flying around." Stephanie had always been the anxious type and even though many think blondes are stupid, she was pretty intelligent. "I need to use the restroom, can you handle things down here meanwhile?" she said while taking off her apron. "Of course, go!" you said as you pushed her in the direction of the bathroom while laughing. She laughed as well while she walked the rest of the way to the bathroom.

You turned around to the counter behind the cash register and showcase to pack some orders that had to be sent out. You placed a white cake with beautifully arranged, light pink fondant flowers and golden flakes in a white box. Happy birthday Grandma! was written on it in green frosting. You smiled softly. Lastly, you put a sticker with a name and adress on it. Just then you heard a masculine voice clear their throat to get your attention. You quickly turned around and you met a beautiful pair of blue eyes.
