You were no longer falling in the darkness. The scenery had changed to a bunch of dark clouds, but you soon fell through them and saw a beautiful blue ocean under you with some small island covered in green life, but that soon changed into a red and orange sunset with an ocean of black under it. Soon, you were walking in the air, back where you had started before you came to Howls childhood. The only thing you could see, besides yourself, was Heen. He was walking in front of you. This was all like an absurd dream.
Heen let out a quick huff meant as a sign for you to hurry up. You soon found tears building up in your eyes and not long after, your tears left your eyes and floated in the air. You tried to wipe them away, but soon gave up after you realized there was no use in it. Heen continued huffing. "Sorry Heen. I'm trying to hurry" you told him. "I just can't seem to stop crying" you finished. Not long after, the door came to sight. It was wide open so you could see the mountain and stone on the other side.
As you walked out, it felt like you were lighter because of the difference in the airs thickness. The door closed and disappeared behind you just like the castle inside of the castle had did when you took Calcifer out of it. You suddenly stopped walking when you saw a large figure covered in black feathers sitting down a couple of meters in front of where the door had been. Howl. He looked completely exhausted and his whole body moved as he breathed heavily.
Your face softened, knowing he was alive. You rushed over to him and stopped when you were barely thirty centimeters away from him. "Howl" you said before raising your hands towards his face. Your hands touched his black feathers and you could feel breath onthe palms of your hands. You pushed your hands to the side, revealing his emotionless face that had small feathers around his eyes and some bigger ones on the side of his face. His own blood was dripping down from his feathers and some of it had gotten on his chin.
"I'm sorry" you said softly. "Did I come too late?" you asked in the same soft tone. "I didn't mean to make you wait this long" you finsihed with before you leaned in towards his face and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. He still showed no emotion. Your faces were only a few centimeters apart as you looked him in his blue eyes. "I need you to take me to Calcifer, if you can" you told him.
He didn't say anything. He just stood up and revealed a huge claw for you to hold on to. You stood on it and held on to his bird-leg as he revealed his long feathery neck. There was blood on it too. You looked at his upper body and saw blood there too. They really have had no mercy on him. He spread his wings just in time for Heen to jump up on his claw. As he went higher and higher, several of his black feathers parted from him and gently fell down to the ground. You noticed that the sky wasnt orange anymore. It was now light blue. It must be morning. How long had you been in there?
