The castle was laying there, wrecked, at the bottom and in between two mountains. There were a couple of meters spacing the two, steep mountain walls. You had fallen many meters down. It was a miracle that you were alive. Everything was quiet, nothing made a sound except for a couple of small rocks rolling down the mountains or off of the remains of the castle. You were laying on the ground in a curled up postition, surrounded by the castles remains.
As you sat up, some planks and small rocks fell off your back. You whimpered as you felt the pain in your back. You hair was completely messed up from all the commotion that had just happened. You heard some planks fall over and turned your head slowly, feeling the pain in it, to see Heen crawl out of a little space under a couple of other planks and pieces of metal. Thank god he was ok. He let out a huff and walked slowly over to you, feeling the gloomy atmosphere.
You looked around, taking inn all of the destruction of the castle you had lived in for several days. You never thought this would happen. Maybe you should have listened to Calcifer. Maybe Howl would had been ok on his own and all of this weren't necessary. You felt tears form in your eyes as you kept thinking that you made a big mistake, but the rush of thoughts that were going on inside your head was cut off by Heen huffing next to you to get your attention. You hesitated to turn your head to face him, but he wouldn't stop huffing. You finally looked down at him with your eyes wet with tears.
"Heen, what have I done?" you asked, your voice shaking. Your tears started to roll down your face as you continued "I poured water on Calcifer." "What if I killed Howl too?" you finsihed before you placed your hands on your face to hide your sobbing. You could hardly hear your tears hit the ground as you cried. The thought of killing the only man you had ever truly loved broke your heart. You hadn't cried like this in years. At least now in front of a living beeing.
You thought all hope was lost, but no. A blue light came to sight and it formed a line with a sound that sounded like what Suliman's stars had done. Heen spotted it and his eyes widened as he saw it the light shooting from your ring. You were all too caught up in your crying that you didn't even notice. Heen spectated the blue line, but suddenly started to huff and jump on your lap like crazy. You looked up and the first thing you saw was that the red gem on the ring Howl had given you earlier had turned blue. And not only that, but it was also shaking rapidly.
You felt that your whole body got filled with hope. "It's moving!" you exclaimed. "Is Howl still alive? Can you lead me to him?" you asked the ring. As an answer, the ring shot out another blue line. You lifted your head and saw where the ring wanted to lead you. It pointed towards a large, red metal plate that was leaned up against something wooden. You stood up and reached your arm out in front of you. It was almost like your legs started to move towards the plate all on their own because of your newborn hope. You reached it and the blue light had now disappeared again. Heen was of course right behind you and stood there, watching you as you slid behind the red metal. You placed your hands on it and started pushing. It made a terrible amount of noise and you had to get assistance from your right leg to push it away.
"The front door.." you said quietly as turned around and saw the wooden door that was hiding behind the metal. The blue light appeared for the third time and pointed straight towards the black, metal doorhandle. The color on the wheel was set on back. Only Howl had been there before. Regardless, you placed your hand on the doorhandle and pulled it down. The door whined as you slowly opened it. You had no idea of what would meet your eyes on the other side, but there was only one way to find out. You opened it wide open and you eyes met nothing but complete darkness.
Wind, from the darkness, graced your face and pulled your hair gently. With a curious heart, you stretched your arm out and the blue line came to sight again. Once it hit the darkness, it faded into a vague, yellow light. You let your other hand touch the darkness. This was not a normal shadow that wound surround your hand in darkness, this darkness was like water. It was thick and made your hand look wavy. You grew more curious at the sight of this and gathered up the courage to indulge yourself in the darkness by walking inside the door with your left hand in front of you. Heen paniced, as you could no longer be seen on the other side of the door, and started huffing more than ever. He started running around in circles in front of the door while huffing before he jumped inside and followed you in the darkness.
