There were battleships hovering in the red and black sky above the city. But that was not all. If you looked close enough, you could see a bunch of black spots in the sky circeling around a bigger black spot. It was obvious that Howl was in there, being pestered by Suliman's creatures. "I can see Howl down there! It looks like he's trapped!" you stated, looking at the sky from the hole in the floor. Then, lightning struck just were Howl was. You gasped as the white flash hit your eyes. "Calcifer, hurry!" you yelled desperately as you looked behind you to face Calcifer, but what you saw next almost made your heart stop.
The witch was leaning towards Calcifer, with her hands stretched out before her, to get the heart. "No!" Calcifer yelled, but the witch didn't listen. She grabbed the shovel's handle and pulled it towards her, making Calcifer exit the fireplace and become small once again. Smoke rushed out of the wood Calcifer just got pulled out of and the smell soon spread out in the room. You felt your feathers grow further down your back as you yelled for the witch to stop. "Put it back!" you yelled as you rushed over to her.
She didn't listen. It was like the whole world around her disappeared and she could hear nothing. With mesmerized eyes, she reached her hand into the fire and grabbed Howl's burning heart. "Let go!" you continued to yell as put your arms around her in a desperate attempt to stop her. She dropped the shovel and put her other hand on Howl's heart. "Howl's heart! It's mine!" was all she could say before Calcifer's flames turned pink and then back to red in her tight grip. Calcifer grew large once again and shook the whole castle. Noone had any control anymore.
The castle shook violently from side to side. What was still intact after the first collapse was definitly shattered to bits now. The castle moved so intensely that the whole thing fell over one side of the mountain, moving downwards rapidly. The castle stood in an angle so that everyone and everything inside the castle fell to one of the walls. Markl and Heen held onto the floor to not fall and how you managed to stay on your feet was a miracle.
The witch was the first to hit the wall with Calcifer and Howl's heart still in her tight grip and once she hit the wall, Calcifer's flames surrounded her. Her skin turned grey and her dress was now dark purple from the flames damage. "Put it back now!" you yelled at her. Despite all of this chaos, she had a smile on her face and an empty look in her eyes.
But after some seconds, her brain realized that she was holding onto a literal fire. "It's hot!" she yelled. "Ohh it's burning!" she continued as you finally reached her and your hands met hers. "Let go!" you tried as your body soon became surrounded by Calcifer. "You're catching on fire!" you said while desperately trying to open her hands in order to get the heart. "No it's mine!" she replied. You backed away as she contined to yell that it was hers.
You ran to grab a bucked full of water. You knew that Calcifer would go out, but you had to save the witch! You swung your arms and the water flew out from the bucket and hit the heart perfectly. Calcifer's flames became small and blue in the witch's hands. Steam rose up form the witch's clothes and hair. The castle was now more steady and you stood there, with the bucket in your hands, trying to catch your breath. You thought that you all were safe and the worst part was over, but no. With a big crack, the castle split in two and started walking slowly in two different paths.
"Y/n!" Markl yelled. Him, Heen and the witch were on one side and you were on the other. Heen jumped from Markl's side into your arms and you both fell down the mountainside. You screamed as the castle hit something and broke completely. "Y/n!" Markl yelled after your faint screams. The witch was sitting on the floor, crying. "She's so mean. It's my heart!" she sobbed as her tears formed small waterfalls down her cheeks.
