Day had become night and you were giving Markl a goodnight-hug. "Don't worry about Howl, Y/n. Sometimes he likes to go away for days on end." he reassured you. He must have seen you worrying. "Thank you Michael, that's good to know." you said and kissed his forehead gently. "Goodnight Y/n." he said as he started to walk up the stairs. "Sleep tight Markl." you replied.

Before you walked over to the witch, you scooped some of the ointment Howl had given you for your feathers, in your hand. You placed your hand in the back of your neck and smeared some on in a thin layer. It was very cold and smelled like roses. You put the lid back on and wiped the remaining ointment off on your night gown. You smiled, thinking that Howl cared about you and noticed small things like the feathers. You noticed you had zoned out and remembered that you had to tuck the witch in.

She was already laying in her bed next to the bethroom under the stairs, waiting for you to tuck her in. You walked over to her bed and started tucking the witch in her pink duvet. "Do you need anything else?" you asked her. She shook her head in response. "Good night then." you said and turned around to walk to your room. You were quite tired youself because you had been worried for Howl.

"You're in love." you heard the witch comment behind you. You turned around to face her and saw her with a big smile printed on her face. "How do you know?" you asked. "You've been sighing the whole day." she answered. "Have you ever been in love?" you asked her as you sat down at her bedside. "Of course I have. I am still in love." she told you. "Men are so difficult to deal with, but their hearts, I just adore!" she said exitedly. You shook your head. "You're terrible."

Just then you heard a siren go off outside and it quickly got your attention. "What's that?" you asked as you shot up from the bed and rushed over to the closest window. "That's and air raid siren." said the witch. "An air raid?" you asked worriedly. Your mind went straight to Howl. "It's far away, but I wouldn't go out tonight." she continued. "I'm sure Sulimans henchmen are looking everywhere for this place." You looked down at the witch and to noone's surprise she was staring at Calcifer again. "What a good fire. It keeps this house so well hidden." she said.

You were starting to get supsicious of her obsession with Calcifer. You had never seen anyone be so obsessed with a flame, witch or not. Not that you had seen many witches in your time. Calcifer didn't seem to mind anymore, so it was probably ok with him.
