~The Next Morning~
I wake up at eight-thirty as always even though today is my day off after what happened yesterday, but it's only from the field. Storm said that Icarus and I have to be in the training room later for some kind of assessment. I guess every newbie has to have one before they're officially a Fighter, which I find a little weird since I thought I was already a Fight when I set my foot through that front door, but I guess not.
I lazily sit up and I rub my eyes with my hands to try to get rid of the sleepiness. I eventually remove my blanket and climb down the ladder just as Hunter gets out of his bed, and stretches out.
"Morning, Nomad," he says after he stretches.
"Morning," I say in a sleepy tone as I rub one of my eyes with the back of my hand again.
"What are your plans for today?" Hunter asks as we walk out of the bedroom.
"I don't know yet besides doing that assessment," I say as we slowly walk down the hallway. "Not really looking forward to doing that."
"You'll do fine. It's really not that bad. It just shows Storm what you can do and see whether or not you'll be placed in a different group," Hunter says, and I abruptly stop and turned around to face him.
"Placed in a different group? What if I don't want to?" I ask.
"I'm probably the worst person to ask that since I don't know how the process goes," Hunter answers.
"Great," I huff as I turn back around and go into the kitchen.
"Morning, Nomad," Storm says after I sit in my spot at the table.
"Morning," I grumble.
"Morning, Hunter," Storm says to him as he sits next to me.
"Morning, Storm," he says to her, then suddenly the door that leads to the garage opens and Icarus walks in.
"Where've you been?" Storm asks Icarus who was walking towards the fridge.
"Out for a run," Icarus says as he grabs a water bottle out of the fridge and sits at his spot.
"I'm assuming around the neighborhood?" Storm says.
"Yeah. I wasn't going to go out to town," Icarus says.
"You can if you want, just have to tell Merc so he can keep track of you. I used to do morning runs in town," Storm says.
"How come you don't anymore?" Hunter asks as he sits back at his spot after grabbing some breakfast.
"Just have too much going on and not a lot of things exactly going on in town," Storm answers.
"Yeah, now it's just out on other worlds now," Hunter says.
"You okay?" Storm asks me in a gentle tone as she lightly elbows me in the arm.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I say.
"We can push back the assessment if you need to," Storm says.
"No, it's fine."
"Can we just do it now and get it done and over with?" Icarus asks.
"That's up to Nomad to decide because I need you both to do it at the same time, and besides, I need to change things up a bit," Storm says.
"What do you need to change?" I ask as I furrow my eyebrows.
"Adam is on a job right now, so I have no one for you to take the assessment with, and I need to figure out who to replace him with," Storm answers.
"I can replace him," Hunter chips in.
