I wake up and see pink walls all around me. I know two things, one, I'm at Kat's house, and two, I smell bacon downstairs and I'm hungry. I head down Kat's stairs and walk down the hallway to her kitchen, the smell getting better as I grow nearer. Kat sings to Lights while she is cooking the ultimate breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, toast, and bacon.
"Hey Kat." I yawn. She turns around and flops the pancake onto a plate. I take a seat at her counter as she slides the plate over to me.
"Goooooooodmoooorning!" She sings to me. I smirk at her and begin to eat my pancake. "So what time do you want me to take you home?" She asks. I freeze. I don't want to go home. I don't want to go there. I can't go there. My dad has no idea I'm here and I didn't call. I'm in so much trouble...
Kat snaps her fingers in front of me. "Hey! Earth to Edith!" I shake my head and clear my throat. I try and avoid the subject of me going back home. Kat looks at me kind of confused and I quickly change the subject.
"Um... How did I get here?" I ask. It's a serious question. I really have no idea how I got to Kat's house, nor do I remember most of last night after we burned our stuff. Kat chuckles and looks at me as if she expected that question.
"After you guys all got wasted, me and Phil drove you guys home. Your door was locked and I didn't want to disturb your dad so I just brought you over here! I hope that's ok. You guys were just getting a little out of hand!" She laughs.
"Oh yeah. It's fine." I say with my fake laugh that I've perfected over the years. "So what do you want to do today?" I ask. Kat was easy to distract. Her face lights up.
"Well I was thinking we could go to the mall and come back here and watch movies!" She smiles. I loved spending time with Kat. Other than Alan she was the only one I could talk to about anything. I told her almost everything but Alan knew everything about me. It's not like I didn't want to tell Kat everything it's just that I don't want to disappoint her. I'm scared to tell her everything.
I nod my head and agree. It sounds like a great idea.
After I get ready we head to the mall for a few hours. Spending lots of time looking at band shirts for me, and girly clothes for her. I don't dress girly but I like the way it looks on Kat so I enjoy shopping with her. I leave the mall that day with a new shirt, a pair of Vans, and a short purple summer dress Kat dooped me into buying. We spend about an hour just driving around the neighborhood singing to our favorite songs and embarrassing ourselves. Kat had always been a good singer, she always told me I was but I never believed her.
When we got to Kat's house it was about 5:30PM. After making popcorn and getting all the blankets we could we watched about four hours of our favorite show, Drake and Josh. Stupid Nickelodeon doesn't air it anymore. We watched it together the first time that we ever hung out so now we've seen every single episode about a million times.
It's about 10PM and I decide that it's time for me to hit the road and go home. It's not what i want to do, but I have to sooner or later.
"Are you sure you don't want a ride girly?" Kat asks. I sling my bag over my shoulder and take out my iPod. I nod and we say our goodbyes. Summer's been good so far except for me having to go home.
I like walking, especially at night. It calms me down and gives me time to think about everything and sort everything out. My life can be really stressful so I like to have some time where it's just me and my music. The walk from Kat's house to mine is about 15 songs, or two and a half miles. I take my time on this walk though. I look over the details of all the houses I pass by. Not many people lived in my neighborhood so there was never that much to look at. The song "Black Damask" from Motionless In White starts to play as my house comes into my view, how fitting.
