Day 2: something illegal that you think should be legal
ANG HIRAP NAMAN NUNG TANONG. Hahahaha. VE? VE?
But seriously, I mostly agree with the law. There are only few cases that make my blood boil, like those regarding death penalties, cyber crime, etc.
But since it seems that I have to choose one among those, I choose cyber ‘crimes’.
I do not mean to say that I condone the real crimes committed via Internet. I wouldn’t want those to be legal. But in the provisions of the cyber crime law, so many other relatively innocent activities are classed as illicit. Even the simple act of liking, sharing, and commenting on posts could land one in prison.
There are amateurs, like me, who depend on the Internet for critique and direction. There are the people whose voices could only be heard online.
So, that. The thing for which I’m hoping is consideration. Yeah, cyber crimes must be prevented. But it should be done so in a way that wouldn’t kill freedom on the Internet. Perhaps a watered-down version? If there’s a will, there’s a way.
~may loyalty award na ako sa cyber crime law. Pang-ilang beses ko na ba 'to?~
