"Maybe she just wants to be alone Dabi." said Tysu when Dabi came to their room one day, looking for the little girl, whose name they still didn't know. "Well from you. You guys are all so loud." he replied, annoyed when he saw that she wasn't in the room either.
Where could she be?
"Like you aren't annoying." said Tsyu and Dabi ignored that as he left the room, entering the hall just as Keigo came running by with his favorite action figure. His wings were out behind him but he stayed on the ground. "Hey chicken, have you seen Ta- the fox girl?" asked Dabi and the blonde rolled his eyes, looking slightly annoyed.
"No I don't. Last time I saw her, she was with Aizawa. She isn't anymore though. Maybe check outside?" he said offhandedly and Dabi sighed as he brushed past the younger boy, leaving the hall, only to bump into something. He huffed in annoyance, about to yell at whoever it was, until his eyes met wide sky blue. The little girl was holding onto her bear as she stared up at him.
That day she was dressed in jeans and a long sleeved shirt with flowers decorating it. Her white hair looked like it had been cleaned and brushed.
When she saw that it was Dabi, her eyes brightened and she hugged him shyly. He relaxed into her small arms and hugged back slowly, smiling faintly. "Hey Tails." he murmured quietly and smirked when her face turned pink. She gave a tiny wave in response and he shifted on his feet. "You wanna go to the park with me? Just you and me." he asked and the fox girl seemed to think about this for a moment before nodding eagerly.
Dabi grinned and took her hand in his, leading her back to Aizawa's room.
"Aizawa? Can you take Tails and I to the park?" he asked, sliding open the door without warning and the older male blinked, his eyes narrowed at Dabi. He had just been about to take a nap. "For?" he muttered and Dabi seemed embarrassed as he said, "To just spend time together."
Aizawa paused, looking between the two, about to say no, when he noticed how eager the little girl looked. It was a hassle and he was tired, but maybe Dabi could get her name out of her. She still hadn't talked even though it had been weeks since she had been there.
"Fine."
Dabi seemed relieved as he and Tails, as he liked to call her, exited the room to let Aizawa get dressed. It didn't take long and when he was done he let the two pack snacks and things before they got in the car and he pulled out of the parking lot.
"Hey Tails, is it okay if I see some of your quirk too?" asked Dabi quietly as they neared the park and the young girl tilted her head in response. Dabi wasn't sure if she was saying yes or no but he smiled anyways and was glad when she gave him a tiny smile in response.
When they got out of the car, Tails pulled Dabi along and Aizawa yawned as he sat down on the bench papers in hand. Might as well get some grading done.
"Wait do foxes like you only have super strength and stuff?" Dabi asked as the little girl dragged him to the sandpit, forcing himself to sit down beside her. She shook her head and Dabi frowned in confusion, looking over at her. "Are you different from other foxes?" he asked slowly and she nodded. She opened her hand and Dabi was surprised to see a blue flame just like his own.
"Hey no fair. That's my thing." he whispered and she blushed. Dabi chuckled quietly and the little girl nudged him playfully. He smiled and she bit her lip, the flames going out until her fingertips sparked with electricity.
"You're really strong huh? Think you could shock that chicken for me?" he remarked and Tails laughed quietly, shaking her head. Dabi pouted at that. "Why not?" he huffed and tensed up when she reached up to play with his hair. Her hair was much whiter than his but he liked the fact that they matched. She must have too because she was always playing in it.
She gave him a look and Dabi rolled his eyes. "I don't care if he's nice to you. Everyone's nice to you. He's annoying." he grumbled and Tails tilted her head as if you ask, 'Why?'
Dabi shrugged, looking away. "The girls think he's..cute or whatever." he said, frowning a little and now Tails frowned, starting to draw in the sand. Dabi looked over and his heart jumped when he saw the words in the sand.
You're even cuter than Keigo. Even with your burn and the little scars. Cause we match.
And she looked at him, lifting her sleeves to reveal the small, jagged scars she had. He hated them. Only because he knew she didn't like them. He had caught her crying about them one time. He didn't say anything because he didn't want to make it worse.
"They always say Toga is the cutest girl here but I think it's you." he said and Tails blushed, her ears popping up and Dabi laughed at that. "Awe you're excited." he teased and she shook her head quickly, mouthing the words, 'Am not.'
"Are too. It's adorable." he said and she huffed a little, crossing her arms and looking away. Dabi pouted at that and leaned in to try and get her attention. "Tails..don't be mad." he whined and she was silent. "Tails...please? Aren't we best friends?" he said and she glanced at him. "We are best friends. I like you more than everyone, except maybe Shiggy, cause he's my brother. But you're always so nice to me." he said and Tails smiled at that.
Dabi sighed.
"But I want to hear your voice. And know your name. I'm sure it's better than Tails." he said and her smiled faded a little. She was nervous but she really liked Touya. She thought of him as her best friend too. And she knew his name but he didn't know hers.
It was silent for a while but Dabi didn't seem to notice, lost in thought as he stared up at the few clouds in the sky.
Tails opened her mouth and Dabi's eyes widened.
"It's..Kyubey." she all but whispered in a soft voice. It wasn't dry and raspy but she seemed to have a hard time getting words out. Probably from not using her voice in a while. "Kyubey is your name?" he breathed and she nodded. "You're..my best..friend too, Touya." she whispered and he grinned, bringing her into a tight hug.
She immediately hugged back and Dabi squeezed her. "Kyubey is a very pretty name. And your voice is pretty too." he said, not noticing that Aizawa had witnessed their interaction. He couldn't hear what they were saying but he figured they must have gotten closer. He tilted his head, watching as the two seemed to talk quietly, Dabi pink in the face while Tails seemed to be really excited about something.
They stayed like this for hours until the sun began to set and Aizawa stood.
"Come on you two." he remarked and Kyubey yawned. Dabi took her hand and helped her stand, gathering up their toys before leading her toward Aizawa.
When they got close, she pulled away from Dabi and he stared after her in confusion as she moved closer to Aizawa, tugging on his pant leg. He looked down at her and she stared up at him. "Thank you."
His eyes widened and he wondered exactly how Dabi managed to get her to talk.
"You're welcome. You're apart of the family now." he said gently and she smiled. The small group piled into the car and Kyubey snuggled up to Dabi, her eyes closing. He stared down at her, a very protective look in his eyes and Aizawa sighed.
This will be interesting later. he thought before pulling off and taking the two home.
