The Full Moon

"OUCH!" Ron shouts.

"Ron be quiet! Fudge will—" Hermione says.

"Scabbers! He bit me! He bit me!"

"Ron, shut it!" I say. Out of the corner of my eye, I see an animal covered in ginger fur. It's yellow eyes looking straight at Scabbers.

"Crookshanks! Go away!" Hermione snaps. The cat's tail swayed back and forth.

"Scabbers!" Ron shouts. With a loud squeak, Scabbers rips out of Ron's grip and scurries away. Crookshanks doesn't hesitate to pounce after him. Ron throws the Invisibility Cloak off himself and runs after the rat.

"Ron!" Hermione whisper-shouts.

"Where did he go? I can't see anything!" I say. Night had fallen and the familiar darkness surrounded us. The three of us break into a run with the Invisibility Cloak trailing behind us.

"Gotcha!" Ron shouts as we hear a thud and a squeak.

"Ron! Get back under the cloak!" Hermione says.

Ron, who wasn't listening looks at Crookshanks and shouts, "Get away you animal!" Ron tries to shove Crookshanks off of him.

"Ron! Any minute Fudge will—" I quickly stopped talking. Out of nowhere a humungous black dog bounds toward us. The dog leapt towards Harry, Hermione, and I, knocking us all to the ground with its paws.

The fall knocked the wind out of me and I tried to catch my breath. Before any of us could react, the dog leaps over us on the ground and runs to something behind us. We hear a scream. I lift myself up and turn around. Ron was being dragged by the dog as if he were a rag doll.

"Help!" Ron shouts.

"Lumos!" Harry whispers. To our horror, the light fell on a tree. But not just any tree. The Whomping Willow.

"Ron!" Hermione shouts.

The dog dragged Ron over to the trunk, pulling him through a large gap in the roots. All we could see now was Ron's leg.

"Ron!" I try to run up to him, but a branch whipped in front of my face, causing me to take a step back.

Ron's screams could be heard inside the tree. His foot was now attached to a root. Ron was trying to do anything to be stopped from being dragged away.

Snap! Ron's leg had broken and he was swept into the hole.

"No!" Harry shouts. We all stand up, but a tree branch swings around, knocking us on our backs. I feel a sharp pain in my arm. I look down and see that I'm bleeding.

"What are we going to do?" Hermione whimpers. All of a sudden, Crookshanks sneaks up from behind us. She prances around, dodging the branches until she makes it to the trunk. The cat reaches up and places its paw on a small knot of roots. The Whomping Willow suddenly stops moving. As if it was frozen in time.

"What? H-how did he know... " Hermione says in shock.

"I've seen him with that dog. They're friends," Harry says.

We all make our way into the hole in the roots. Crookshanks slithers in before us. We follow the cat along the dark tunnel.

"Where does this lead?" I wonder.

"I've seen it on the map. Fred and George say they've never been able to get inside it. It seems to end up somewhere in Hogsmeade," Harry answers.

We follow along the dark tunnel, our only light being Harry's wand. We followed the path, going up and down. Left and right. Panting, we finally reached an opening. We duck inside.
