Wrongs Are Righted

"YOU'VE GOT THE WRONG MAN!" Harry shouts.

I wipe my eyes, groggily, then open them. I blink a few times for my blurry vision to go away. I look around at the scene before me. Harry and Hermione were standing in front of Cornelius Fudge and Snape. They didn't seem to be having a pleasant conversation. Ron was laying unconscious in a hospital bed next to me. I feel the back of my head and feel a bulky bandage. I hope I don't have to wear that thing for too long.

"W-what happened?" I ask slowly. Four sets of heads snap around to look at me. Harry and Hermione walk over to me with relieved looks on their faces.

"Y/N!" Hermione sighs with relief as she sits down next to me.

"Are you ok?" Harry asks. He sits down and grabs my hand gently. I look down at his hand for a moment, a small blush creeping up on my face.

"Yes, I'm fine. What happened?" I ask again.

"The dementors. They're going to perform the Kiss on Sirius any minute," Harry says grimly. I sit up on my arms.

"B-but they can't! Minister, he's innocent!" I say. Fudge simply smiles at me.

"What did I tell you, Minister? Black, he confunded the lot of them..." Snape says with a raised eyebrow.

"WE'RE NOT CONFUNDED!" Harry shouts.

The door slams open. Dumbledore walks in. He eyes all of us with a smile. Harry and Hermione stand up and walk over to him. I try to follow, but when I sat up, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head. I sigh and lay back down.

"This is a hospital wing! You all need to leave! My patients are distressed!" Madame Pomfrey insists.

"My apologies, Poppy. I was just wondering if I could have a word with Miss Granger, Miss Diggory, and Mr Potter," Dumbledore said, nodding his head.

"About what, Headmaster? Doesn't my evidence count for something?" Snape snarls.

"I would like to speak with Hermione, Harry, and Y/N alone," Dumbledore says abruptly. I've never heard Dumbledore come even close to losing his tone with anyone before. Snape shoots us a sharp glare and then walks out. His black cloak billowed out behind him. Fudge follows close behind with a small nod.

"Headmaster, Black's innocent! We saw Pettigrew!" Harry says as soon as the doors shut behind them.

Dumbledore holds his hand up to shush him.

"Listen. There is no evidence proving Black's story to be true. Many eyewitnesses claimed to see Sirius kill Peter and I myself know that Sirius was in fact the Potters' Secret-Keeper. It is too late. Professor Snape's explanation sounds a lot more convincing than yours," Dumbledore says.

"But you must believe us, Professor," Hermione pleads.

"I do, Miss Granger. But, I don't have the power to make them see the truth," Dumbledore leans closer to Hermione, "What we need is more time."

"Oh!" Hermione's eyes widened with realization.

"Sirius is locked in the seventh floor in Professor Flitwick's classroom. Thirteenth window right from the West Tower. You will be able to save more than one innocent life. You know the laws Miss Granger. You must not be seen," Dumbledore spoke softly, but clearly.

I was still laying down in a hospital bed. I said, "But, Professor—"

"My apologies, Miss Diggory, but you might not be in the right state," Dumbledore turns to Hermione again, "I'm going to lock you in. Three turns will do it. Good luck."

Dumbledore closed the doors and we hear the click of a lock.

"In the right state for what!" I exclaim, crossing my arms.
