Scene 5: 7/11

The scene opens up at a 7/11. We see Jasmine and Jared. Jasmine is carrying a bag. Other ensemble members are also in the store.

Jared: Can we just talk this out?

Jasmine: Does it look like I want to talk this out? Especially out in public?

Jared: Let's head back to my place and talk things over then...

Jasmine: Never mind, talking in public is better.

Sam and Asher enter, they don't yet see Jared and Jasmine yet.

Jared: Come on. We've been dating for three years! Why are you breaking up with me now??

Jasmine: Because I'm tired of the way you treat people who are different from you.

Jared: Are you talking about those two emo-

Jasmine: See, you don't even know their names. It's Sam and Ash-

Jared: Why the fuck would I need to know their names, they're queer ass weirdo's who deserve to get the shit beaten out of them-

Jasmine: NO THEY DON'T!!

Everyone stops what they're doing and looks at them. Jasmine gives them a "fight me" look, Jared gives off a look of apology.

Jasmine: (quieter) No they don't.

Jared: Why are you standing up for them? Facts are facts, they're both gay and it's disgusting that they shove it in everyone's faces-

Jasmine: When did they ever shove it in people's faces?

Jared: When they came to school carrying a *he hesitates and starts to whisper* you know.

Jasmine: A rainbow flag. Sam specifically had a small rainbow flag pinned to his backpack. So yeah, we know Sam likes guys. So what? It's not like he went running around screaming "I like men" everywhere he went.

Jared: That's exactly what wearing that rainbow flag does though! That's why we ripped it off and shredded it! Jasmine: *more to herself than to Jared* I hated that day. So much. *back to Jared* No it doesn't. It just means he's not afraid to hide who he is, which is incredibly brave and inspiring.

Jared: How is that inspiring? It's disgusting. Could you imagine wanting to be with the same gender?

Jasmine doesn't answer the question, but she turns her head and sees Sam and Asher. She waves at them, and they hesitantly wave back.

Jared: Why the hell are you waving at them???

Jasmine: Because- You know what, no. I'll show you.

Jasmine gets up with her bag and walks off to the bathroom. Sam and Asher watch as she walks away

Asher: Any idea why Jasmine was waving at us?

Sam: I have a couple hunches, but I wanna watch what happens next.

Asher: *glares* cause you like cool shirts and cold rings and you want a big house and nice things?

Sam: *the most sarcastic, gayest gasp ever* You know me so well!!!
