Scene 11: Jasmine's room

Asher wakes up before Jasmine and checks his phone. He finally sees the missed call from Sam, and calls him back.

Sam is still dressed in the same clothes as last night, and obviously hasn't slept a wink. If it all.

Sam: Hey

Asher: Hey! I'm sorry, I just saw I missed your call. You alright? Did Emily get you home in one piece?

Sam: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, she got me home safe. I just um, wanted to make sure Jasmine is alright, I'm sure they're really shaken up.

Asher: Yeah, they're doing alright, they're still sleeping.

Sam: You.. know this because you stayed over, or are you stalking them?

Asher: Their parents were out of town, and since Jared knows where they live they didn't feel safe. They asked me if I would stay the night, and I figured it was the least I could do.

Sam: Yeah, yeah, that's... nice of you. It's great that you guys are becoming so close.

Asher: Yeah, yeah, they're....great.

Sam: Great as in, a great friend? Or great as in... a great partner...? Or um, great as in a great sacrifice to our Lord and Savior Pete Wentz...?

Asher: Ha! No, no, no sacrifice. I- I don't know. They're amazing, in every way shape and form.

Sam: But?

Asher: ... um... no, no buts. they're... great

Sam: You sound like you're trying to convince yourself that.

Asher: It's just- I- I l- like y- our dynamic duo thing we got going, and I'm so ready to go to L.A with you and get started on finding our dream, and I don't want to complicate that in any way by being in love with y- Jasmine. With dating Jasmine

Sam: Ashes, I'm... totally fine with you and Jasmine dating. Nothing is going to change between you and me. And you know, if things end up really going well with them... why not bring them to L.A with us?

Asher: ... Are you really okay with that? I know they would love it more than anything, they don't really want to go to college yet and I think a gap year would be great for them-

Sam: Yeah. yes, and it's another roommate to pay for rent. Yeah, yeah, of course they can come along

Asher: And you're sure that's okay?

Sam: why... why wouldn't it be. They're great person, and... You're my best friend.

Asher: Yeah... you sure are.

Sam: Well, let me know what Jasmine thinks of the idea. I'm gonna start looking into apartments

Asher: Okay, sounds good.

Sam: ... and Ashes?

Asher: Yeah?

Sam: I'm here for you, no matter what.

Asher: Same to you.

*they hang up* Sam collapses on the bed into tears. Asher sits back down on the bed

Jasmine: Hey

Asher: Hey! You're up! ... I didn't wake you up did I?

Jasmine: A little bit, but that's okay. Were you talking to Sam?

Asher: yeah, he just wanted to check in on you and see how you were doing

Jasmine: aww... that's so sweet of him.

Asher: Yeah it is.

Jasmine: So um... not to sound like I've been eavesdropping, but did I hear correctly that you told Sam we're dating and that... you love me?

Asher: I- uh, I mean... Y-

Jasmine then kisses him

Jasmine: ... I love you too. I know it's fast and sudden, but... You're the only person who's cared about the real me. You've inspired me to be myself and. ... I don't know what I'd do without you.

They hug and the lights go down.
