"Rue forreal, where are we going?" Fez dragged behind Rue as he got into her car.
Rue was given the task to be on Fez duty for the entire day while Lexi and Cassie decorate the house.
It was Fez's birthday today. He didn't like anyone knowing, but Lexi pried it out of him a couple of years ago while she undressed slowly one night. He was doomed.
Now, Lexi thought he deserved a nice birthday party with all his loved ones present. Ash was even going to bring his "friend" Penelope.
They had a hard year. Losing their daughter, the wedge that had created tension for them for months. They needed something to celebrate.
Lexi wanted to shower Fez with all the love she could possibly give him. She wanted to show him that the love she has for him is infinite.
Rue drove Fez to a diner that day. She parked, watching as Fez watched her suspiciously.
"Yo Rue, you know I love you and all, but you smell mad fishy bringin me here." Fez drawled out.
Rue rolled her eyes, "fuck you and come have lunch with me. Spend some time with your sweet crackhead sister."
Fez laughed, getting out of the car. They got into a booth, sitting across one another. They sat in comfortable silence for a minute.
"Do you remember when we met?" Rue asked suddenly.
Fez nodded, "yeah I remember. You was real young, back then."
"You asked me how old I was and I told you old enough." Rue laughed, making Fez chuckle. They stayed silent for a moment, Fez speaking first.
"Yo, ion think I ever told you but, I'm real sorry for ever selling you shit." Fez said.
"Fez, if it wasn't going to be you, it was going to be somebody else. I was already too far gone then." Rue waved her hand.
"Yeah, I guess you right. You not too far gone now, though." Fez said, his eyes hopeful.
"Yeah...I've been doing well. 5 years sober now." Rue smiled sheepishly.
"That's wassup. I'm proud of you, kid." Fez recognized. Rue smiled.
"Yeah you know, it's funny. You were a drug dealer for a while but it was you that helped me get sober." Rue smirked. Fez sighed, his hands folded on the table.
"We gotta take care of our own," Fez simply answered.
"Now you got a pretty blonde shawty on yo arm, taking care of you." Fez teased. Rue's cheeks warmed, giggling at the thought of her newfound relationship with Cassie.
"Shut the fuck up." Rue laughed.
"Never in a million years would I have thought I would fall for someone again. And I mean like really fall for them. The last time I did it...it was with...Jules." Rue said the last part quietly as if she would conjure her in the diner.
"I feel like...what you felt for Jules wasn't always love. You needed someone. Unfortunately, Jules was there for you when you needed an addiction. She was another crutch for you." Fez explained lightly, not wanting to offend her.
Rue nodded, sighing. "Yeah, no, you're right! I realized that a while ago in therapy...but it just felt nice being wanted by someone. I didn't think I'd have that. Now being sober...it feels so fucking freeing that someone looks at me and thinks, I want her. That's so crazy."
Fez grabbed her hand, watching her beginning to ramble.
"Rue, you're worthy of love. It's possible. You've seen it now." Fez assured her. Rue let out a broken sigh, nodding.
