Avneet’s POV
We finally reached our new mansion—our new home from now on. It was huge—even bigger than the one we had back in California. Everything about it screamed elegance and comfort.
The moment the car stopped, I hopped out and rushed inside like an excited kid. The house was stunning. Every corner felt like a scene from a dreamy Pinterest board.
I wandered around, exploring room after room, until I stumbled into the bathroom—and wow. It was huge. A perfectly round mirror with soft lighting on both sides, a pristine white bathtub that almost looked like it belonged in a spa. I ran my fingers over its edge, already imagining the peaceful soaks I’d take here.
The living room was no less impressive—spacious, warm, and tastefully decorated. But what had my heart thumping the most was the thought of my bedroom.
I slowly opened the door, and my jaw dropped.
"Mumma, I love you so much!" I gasped, covering my mouth in awe. "This room is so cozy. The balcony? Perfect. The bed? Super soft. The lighting? Ugh, I literally love it!" I spun around, taking it all in and describing every detail to my mom, overflowing with happiness.
She smiled and said, "I’m glad you love it. Now go get ready for college. I’ll drop you. Only if you feel like attending today—no pressure. But at least get familiar with your surroundings."
I nodded, "Alright. Hopefully, the college is just as good as this house."
I changed into something cute but comfy—a long fitted skirt with red floral prints and a half-sleeve white crop top. My mom dropped me off, and I looked around, soaking in the new campus vibes.
That’s when it happened.
I was too busy looking around and bam!—bumped right into someone. My forehead throbbed.
“Don’t you have eyes?” I snapped, rubbing the spot.
The guy smirked sarcastically, his voice smooth but mocking.
“Don’t you have eyes either, miss?”
"You bumped into me first!" I shot back.
He rolled his eyes and leaned in, his expression darkening as his voice dropped low.
“You got in my way, miss.”
Seriously?
He turned to walk off, but oh no—I wasn’t letting him get away that easily. I grabbed the hood of his jacket and yanked it hard, sending him tumbling to the ground with a loud thud.
"You crazy woman!" he hissed, holding his side.
I stood over him with a sweet smile.
“You didn’t say sorry. How could I just let you walk away?”
He stood up, dusting himself off, glaring at me like I was the villain in his origin story.
“Do whatever you want. I’m never saying sorry to a crazy woman like you.”
That was it. I lost it.
“Did you just call me crazy, you asshole?” I screamed.
He just stuck out his tongue like a five-year-old and said with a smirk,
“I did.”
Then he walked away like it was no big deal.
I stood there, fuming.
“That jerk ruined my entire first day! I swear to God, as long as I’m here—I’ll make your life hell!”
Trying to calm myself down, I remembered I still had to report to the principal’s office. After that, I somehow made it through my classes.
Three exhausting hours later, I finally left campus and spotted our new chauffeur waiting by the gate.
The ride home felt long.
As soon as I got home, I stormed into the house and ran straight to my mom.
“I hate college. Some weirdo completely ruined my first day.”
She hugged me, patting my arms gently.
“Life is full of good and bad days, sweetie. Don’t let this one mess with you too much. Is there anything I can do to make it better?”
I sighed bitterly.
“I’m not in the mood right now, Mom. I think I’ll just take a nap.”
She nodded knowingly and let me go.
Four hours later, I finally woke up and made my way to the living room. Mom was watching a movie, and I plopped down beside her. That’s when I spotted it—a glass of hot chocolate on the table.
“Wow, Mom. Enjoying hot chocolate alone? That’s kinda sad.”
She chuckled.
“That’s literally yours. I finished mine earlier.”
My eyes widened in delight as I kissed her cheek.
“I knew you were the best. Thanks, Mom!”
Sipping the warm chocolate, I curled up beside her and watched the movie.
My day had started off bitter, but somehow… it ended a little sweet.
