Avneet’s POV:

It’s just another day. As Siddhart’s wedding gets closer, I don’t even know what to feel anymore. Should I just let him slip through my hands?
It doesn’t feel good — yet somehow it also feels like the right thing to do. Letting him live the life he wants to… even if I’m not included in it.

Suddenly, my phone buzzes.
It was Rohan. He’d texted:
“Hey, we’re having a meeting at my place. Come asap.”

I tilted my head, confused.
“We? Are there going to be more people?”

He replied almost instantly:

“Just us. You, me, Vaishnavi, and Abhishek bhaiya.”
I simply responded with a “👍🏻” and closed the chat.

I changed into something plain — nothing fancy. I didn’t feel like dressing up.
Because… life doesn’t feel beautiful anymore.
Not when the only person who made it feel magical is about to become someone else’s.

I went downstairs. Mom wasn’t home.
So I turned to the maid and said,
“Tell mom I’m going to Rohan’s place.”
She nodded with a smile and waved me off.

Once I reached Rohan’s building, I noticed there was already a car parked — probably Vaishnavi di and Abhishek bhaiya’s.

I parked my car, took the elevator, and reached his floor. It still blows my mind how this guy lives alone in such a big apartment.

At his doorstep, I noticed two pairs of shoes. I removed mine and rang the bell.

Rohan opened the door and welcomed me in.

I spotted Bhaiya and Di sitting on the couch. But the usual warmth in their smiles wasn’t there today.
Same here. But I forced one anyway.

Rohan gently nudged me to sit across from them and took a seat beside me.

I sighed and asked,
“So? What’s this meeting about?”

Vaishnavi di sighed deeply and said,
“Sid. Obviously. We can’t let him marry that witch. We have to bring back his memories — about you, about his childhood.”

Abhishek bhaiya rested his chin on his hand, then finally looked at me and said,
“Or else… it’ll be too late.”

I nodded.
“But how?”

Rohan leaned forward, eyes lit with something more than just determination.
“I read this article. The guy had forgotten his partner completely, right? So she decorated this place he loved — a place filled with memories of them. Photos, notes… even video of them together. He saw it all, broke down, and remembered everything.”

Di and Bhaiya exchanged a glance.

“That sounds heartwarming and honestly beautiful,” Di said softly.
“But… do you have a plan B? What if it doesn’t work?”

Rohan’s expression turned serious.
“Accident. It’ll work 100%.”

Abhishek bhaiya stood up and smacked him with a pillow.
“ARE YOU MAD, Rohan?!”

Vaishnavi di gently pulled him back down.
Rohan didn’t even flinch.
“I know it sounds crazy, but if nothing else works, we’ll have no choice. Do you really want to see him marry Ashi and waste the rest of his life?”

My eyes widened.
“Okay, wait. Let’s try the first plan. And meanwhile, let’s keep researching more solutions, alright? Bhaiya — do you still have those childhood photos of me and Sid?”

Abhishek bhaiya nodded and rushed out to get his camera bag from the car. The one with the old video footage Vibha aunty once took.

While he was gone, the rest of us started prepping. Rohan had printing stuff ready, and we began printing the pictures right there. We also browsed for some nostalgic decor ideas online.

An hour later, we were in the car, driving to the old park near Siddhart’s house — the one we used to play in before i moved to California.

We chose the big tree. That was our spot.

Vaishnavi di helped me decorate, so did Rohan and Abhishek bhaiya.
We hung fairy lights, pinned photos to twine, placed flowers…
Under the tree, we laid a white bedsheet to act as a screen. The projector was set up, ready to play the edited video bhaiya worked on.

Then bhaiya pulled out his phone and dialed Sid.
“Chote, come to the park.”

Sid started with a whole list of excuses — the usual grumbling. But after some convincing, he gave in.

I hid behind a nearby tree, close enough to watch everything unfold.
Bhaiya, Di, and Rohan hid inside my car, remote in hand, ready to start the projector at the perfect moment.

And then… footsteps.

It was him.

---

Siddhart’s POV:

Bhaiya and his never-ending nonsense.
He sent me out here to this park, talking about “something important.”
I swear, I’m already drowning in stress and now this.

But… as I stepped into the park, something stopped me cold.

There, under our tree, was this glowing setup. Fairy lights, hanging photos, soft white drapes.

What the hell?

I walked closer, squinting at the photos.
Two kids.
Wait…

All of them… was me.

I picked up the photo and studied it.
It was definitely me. But… who’s this girl?

Suddenly, my head started pounding. A sharp pain struck my temples, making my vision blur.

The wind shifted.
And then — voices.

Distant… soft… almost like echoes.

“Don’t forget me…”
That voice. So familiar. So real.

I staggered.

Was the girl in the photo… talking to me?

Before I could make sense of it, the video started playing on the makeshift screen. Images flashed. Laughter echoed. A small boy and girl running, playing, and going somewhere.

And then… I saw them.

Bhaiya, Di, and Rohan… walking toward me from the car.

And then, from behind the tree…

Avneet.

She stepped out.

Her eyes searched mine.

I was confused. Overwhelmed. Frozen.

And then… everything faded to black.
