Avneet’s POV

It was the second day of college. After five long hours of classes, I decided to walk home. Just for a change of pace, you know? I grabbed a coffee from the campus café and began strolling, sipping slowly as my mind wandered into all kinds of weird, pointless thoughts.

That’s when I felt it—someone’s presence behind me. My entire body tensed. Panic surged through me, but I couldn’t let fear show. I had to act brave.

If you don’t stop following me, it won’t take me a second to dial the police,” I threatened, trying to keep my voice steady.

Then I heard it—a low chuckle.
Joke’s on you, crazy woman. I’m not following you.”

That voice. Oh, not again.

I turned around, and of course—it was none other than the king of jerks himself.

Before I could say a word, he lightly shoved me aside. But I lost my balance and stumbled. Just as I was about to hit the ground, he caught me, his eyes locked onto mine as he muttered a single word:

Weak.”

Ugh.

I straightened myself and backed into a corner, fuming silently as he casually shoved his hands into his pockets and walked away like he hadn’t just wrecked my balance and my mood.

Weirdly, we were walking in the same direction.

And then... we reached the same gate.

I stared at him, confused.
Why the hell is he at my house?

Still unsure, I walked through the gate, because well—this was my house. But then... he followed me in too.

We stood in front of the door, side by side. That’s when I couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Hey, King of Jerks. This is my house. What are you doing here?”

He just rolled his eyes.
“I don’t hear you. Now move.”

And he pushed me again.

This time, I didn’t fall. But that was it. I’d had enough.

“Damn it, are you dumb or something?! This is MY house! And why the hell are you always pushing me?!” I shouted.

Before he could respond, the door opened.

And my mom—smiling, no less—greeted him with warmth.
Welcome, Sid. Come on in.”

What.

I froze. My brain was short-circuiting. My mom knows this jerk?

Still standing outside like an idiot, I watched as she welcomed him in. Then she turned to me.
“Avneet, come inside.”

I followed them in, completely dazed. And then I saw her—Vibha Aunty, Siddharth’s mom.

My heart skipped a beat.

And just the way i looked at her... it remind me of him. Sid. My Sid.

Tears welled in my eyes, but i blinked them away and hugged her.

"Hello, Aunty. Long time..."

cupped my face gently.
Oh god, Avneet. You’ve grown up so beautifully.”

I blushed, but before I could say more, she smiled and said,
Oh, so you two have already met?”

I glanced at him. He was fiddling with a Rubik’s Cube like he didn’t even hear her.
