Siddharth’s POV

I rode my bike at full speed, reckless and restless, not giving a damn about anyone. The wind slapped against my face, but I didn’t slow down—not even once.

The moment I reached home, I threw my helmet on the table a bit too roughly, trying to calm the storm inside me. I turned to head toward my room when a voice pulled me back.

"Sid."

I froze. Vaishnavi Di. I turned around to see her standing there, arms crossed, expression unreadable. I knew that look. Something serious was coming. My heart skipped a beat.

I swallowed the lump forming in my throat and walked closer.
"Yes, Di?"

She cleared her throat. "Come to the terrace. We need to talk."

I didn’t say a word—just followed her silently. The tension between us was loud.

Once we reached the edge of the terrace, she turned to me sharply.
"Do you even want this marriage to happen?"

My eyes widened. I looked away, my chest tightening.
"I... I’m not sure yet," I muttered.

Her hand gently landed on my shoulder.
"Sid, you have to be sure. You can’t be in the middle. That’s not fair—to anyone."

And then, like a flash, Avneet’s face appeared in my mind. Her eyes. That kiss. My heart raced again.

"Di... I’m scared. I don’t want Ashi to do something crazy."

Vaishnavi gave a knowing nod. "I remember those days. She used to threaten you over the smallest arguments."

I let out a bitter chuckle.
"So what now? What do I even do?"

My hand rested on my chest, right over my racing heart.
"If I’m honest... deep, deep down—I don’t want this marriage. Not anymore. Because... I think I’ve started feeling something for someone else."

Di’s eyes widened, curiosity flickering.
"For who? Come on, Sid. You know you can tell me anything."

I hesitated for a second. Then I gave in.
"I think... Avneet. I even kissed her."

I couldn’t help the small smile creeping onto my face as I admitted it.

Vaishnavi laughed. "Wow! You’re fast, huh? Okay, then it’s obvious—you like her. If that’s the case, then break this marriage off and tell Ashi. It’s cheating otherwise, Sid."

That word hit me like a bullet—cheating. Did I ever want this? No. Then how did I get here?

I looked away, the guilt crawling up again.
"I’m gonna go to my room. I need some rest... it’s been a long day."

She nodded and left quietly. I stayed for a while longer, then finally let out a shaky breath and followed.

Author’s POV

As soon as Vaishnavi understood Siddharth’s true feelings, she didn’t waste a second. She walked straight into their bedroom, where her husband, Abhishek, was lying on the bed, nose deep in a book.

She sat beside him and gently nudged his leg.
"Abhi."

He hummed in response, eyes still on the page.
"It’s about your brother."

That got his attention. He snapped the book shut and looked at her.
"What now? What did chote do this time?"

Vaishnavi sighed. "He didn’t do anything. It’s about the wedding with Ashi."
