!! TW: VIOLENCE !!

There's not much I know about life. I'm not the person you go to for medical advice, I'm not the type of person who'll provide you with a step-by-step explanation on how to bake something and I'm certainly not the right person for fixing a broken carriage or car.

However, I can protect.

It's the one thing I learned to do for myself when I was just a child.

Recently I've come to the realization that I know and can love too.

Another thing I know about life or rather in life is Fallon. I know her through and through. From the slight exhale she lets out to her screams of joy. I know her every emotion, I can give you step-by-step instructions on how to make her happy when she's sad. I know her.

And of the things I know best in life is violence.

I'm not a mathematician but the result of that sum would be, "I protect what I love by using violence."

Now apply that to the most important person in my life and it turns into, "I protect Fallon by using violence because I love her."

In my mind it all makes sense. It adds up.

There's nothing I wouldn't do to keep her safe.

Nothing.

Even if this means going against her wishes from time to time.

I hate seeing her in pain but if I can prevent her from suffering even more pain then I'll do it in a heartbeat.

Which is why I don't feel bad about what I did.

She slept all through the day and night, only waking up once I return to our bedroom. "Hi," her voice is steady, too steady. It's the voice she uses when she tries to hide her true emotions.

She saw me.

"Hi, darling."

I'm already back in my sweatpants, gradually walking to our bed. She's clutching onto the blanket, her knuckles white from how tight she's holding onto it.

If I thought for a minute that she was scared of me, I'm proven wrong when she switches the blanket for my body.

"Where were you?"

It's a real problem that we can read each other better than we can read a fucking book.

"Arcane got hungry and I fed him downstairs."

She hums, "Okay."

I wait for a moment before proceeding, "That's the lie I was preparing to tell you if you asked me." It's not entirely a lie.
