Kenma stared out his window, watching as his new neighbors carried boxes out of a truck and into the house next to his own. He studied the people, hoping he wouldn't have to talk to them. A small boy, probably about his age, was running back and forth between the truck and the house, carrying smaller boxes than the adults.

Kenma watched the boy with curiosity. He seemed to look excited, Kenma couldn't figure out why though. Who would be excited about moving? It's too much work, and then you have to worry about going to a new school and meeting new people. Kenma shrunk down at just the thought of it.

Meeting new people.

Kenma hoped he wouldn't have to interact with these new people. The boy looked way too energetic for Kenma's liking.

The boy ran back out of the house, this time stopping to observe his surroundings. He looked over at Kenma's house, scanning his eyes up and down as if he were trying to see every detail in the building.

Kenma watched him, trying to figure out exactly what he was doing. Before he knew it, the boy was staring directly at him. Both of them quickly looked away, Kenma moving away from the window, and the boy running back into the truck.

Kenma decided that was enough seeing strangers for today and sat on his bed. He curled up under his blanket, grabbing his phone to play a few games. Hours pass and he didn't move. Until he heard the sound if the doorbell. Soon followed by his mom calling his name.

"Kenma! Can you come here, please?" his mother called from downstairs.

Kenma didn't think he'd like where this was going. Who was here? And why did his mom want him?

He slowly rolled out if his bed, pushing his phone into his pocket. Once he was on his feet, he threw on a hoodie before opening his door and walking slowly down the stairs.

Once he reached the last step, he looked around the corner towards the door.

"Ah, there you are! Come say hi to our new neighbors, Kenma!" hid mom spoke excitedly.

Kenma took a deep breath as he quickly walked over, positioning himself to hide behind his mother.

"Hello, you must be Kenma." a man standing just outside the door began, "This is my son, Tetsurou."

Kenma looked down, seeing the same boy he had seen earlier. It almost seemed that the boy was copying Kenma, as he was hiding behind the man.

"Tetsurou is only a year older than you, Kenma." Kenma's mom spoke, "I'm sure you two can be great friends!"

Kenma gulped, eyes not leaving the boy. He scanned the boy up and down, trying to think of something to say.

The boy stared back at him, his messy black hair covering one of his eyes.

"Why don't you two go up to your room, Kenma?"

Kenma finally broke his gaze, moving to look up at his mom. She gave him a small smile, before placing her hand on his back.

"Come on, I'm sure he's nice."

Kenma moved slowly as he began walking back to the stairs, the other boy who he learned his name to be "Tetsurou" slowly followed behind him.

Once the two boys had reached Kenma's room, Kenma sat on his bed, Tetsurou sitting next to him.

The two boys sat in silence for a while.

"So..." Tetsurou finally spoke up, "I-I'm Kuroo Tetsurou."

"Kozume Kenma."

"Your mom seemed nice."

Kenma looked over at the other boy before responding. "She is."

"What kind of things do you like?"

Kenma stayed silent for a moment, before finally speaking up again. "V-video games."

"That's cool. What's your favorite game?"

Kenma thought for a moment.

"I don't know... I guess, any game that involves fighting?"

"Me too, they're fun."

The room quickly fell silent again, the two boys staring at the wall awkwardly.

"What kind of things do you like?" Kenma repeated the question.

Kuroo stayed silent for a moment before answering, "I like volleyball."

"I've never played that."

Kuroo looked over at Kenma, "Do you want to?"

"I don't know..."

"It's fun, I can teach you how to play if you'd like."

"I..." before Kenma could finish his sentence, he felt Kuroo grab his hand.

"Come on!" he looked up at Kuroo's face that now had a big smile on it. He seemed more excited now. "I seen a good spot that we can play at!"

Kenma wasn't able to say anything as he was pulled to his feet and practically being dragged down the stairs.

"Where are you two going?" Kenma's mom spoke from the living room as the two boys ran past.

"I'm going to teach Kenma how to play volleyball!" Kuroo responded quickly, still pulling Kenma to the front door.

"Alright, don't go too far!" his mom called again.

The boys stopped at the door to put their shoes on. As soon as Kenma had both of his shoes on, Kuroo grabbed his hand once again, pulling him back to his feet and out the door.
