After eating dinner, Kenma and Kuroo played the new game for a few hours.
"How the hell are you so good at this game!?" Kuroo shouted, seeing 'player 1 wins' show up on the screen for what seemed like the hundredth time.
Kenma smirked, clicking the 'challenge again' option. "Another match?"
"I'll beat you this time!"
Both boys stared at the screen, readying for the game to start. After only three minutes, Kuroo threw himself backwards, laying on Kenma's bed.
"It's not fair! You have to be cheating!"
"Or you just suck."
"Kenmaaaaa!"
Kenma rolled his eyes, turning his head to look at Kuroo, who was pouting.
"Wanna play again, Kuro?"
"No, you're mean."
"Giving up already?"
"We've been playing for hours!"
"I've been winning for hours."
"I can't believe I couldn't even beat you once."
"You complain too much."
Kuroo sighed, crossing his arms. "Can't we play something else?"
"You sure you don't wanna lose some more?"
"Oh shut up, you jerk!"
Kenma pulled his hand up, covering his mouth as he giggled.
Kuroo smiled as a light blush spread across his face. "You're so cute," he muttered.
"W-what?" Kenma's full attention suddenly was on Kuroo.
Both boys stared at the other, eyes wide and faces as red as tomatoes. Silence and panic fell amongst them.
After what felt like hours, Kenma looked down, his hair covering his face.
"I didn't mean-" Kuroo began, struggling to find the words to finish the sentence. "Sorry, Kenma"
"I-it's fine." Kenma quickly stood up, turning off his game system and placing his controller on his dresser.
Kenma's mind was racing. Did Kuro actually mean that? Why did he say it? Surely he didn't mean it like that, right?
"Kenma."
No, there's no way Kuro actually meant it like that!
"Kenma?"
Why am I thinking like this!? Why do I feel this way? My heart is racing and I-
"Kenma!"
"Huh?" He was pulled out of his thoughts by Kuroo's sudden shout.
"Can you get my phone for me, please? Someone's calling."
"Oh, okay." Kenma looked down at the vibrating phone that was sitting on his dresser. "A video call from...Akari?"
"Oh, my sister. Answer it."
"Sister?" Kenma picked up the phone, handing it to Kuroo without pressing the answer button.
"Yeah, wanna see her?" Kuroo answered the call.
"Oh, I, uh-"
"Hi Tetsu!" Akari's voice could be heard through the screen.
"Hey 'Kari, what's up?"
"Just wanted to check and see how my awesome little bro is doing!"
"I'm good, I'm at a friend's house right now."
"Oh is it that cute one? Kenma, right?"
"N-no! I never said that!"
"Is he there? I wanna see him!"
Kuroo looked up at Kenma who quickly looked down, clearly nervous.
"I don't know if he really wants to be on a camera right now."
"Aww! But can he at least hear me?"
"Yeah, he's right there."
"Hi Kenma! Tetsu has told me a lot about you!"
"Alright that's enough, 'Kari!" Kuroo spoke quickly.
Kenma slowly walked back to the bed, sitting next to Kuroo.
"H-hi." He spoke quietly, gesturing a small wave at the phone.
He studied the person in the screen. She looked a lot like Kuroo. She had long black hair and hazel colored eyes.
"Oh he is cute!"
"I said that's enough, Akari!"
"He looks so small and adorable!"
Kenma tilted his head down, allowing his hair to cover his face.
"Would you stop it?" Kuroo raised his voice a bit, his face getting red once again.
Akari laughed, "What's wrong, Tetsu? Getting jealous?"
"I'm glad you called and all, but we gotta go. Kenma's mom just called for dinner."
"She didn't-" Kenma began, stopping when Kuroo put a hand over his mouth.
"See ya, love y- ow! Don't bite my hand, Kenma!"
"Then don't cover my mouth, you idiot!"
Akari began laughing again, this time louder. "Are you sure you two aren't dating already?"
"We're not!" Both boys yelled in unison, causing Akari to laugh even more.
"Alright, alright! I'll stop messing with you guys for now. I gotta go study anyway, I got a big test coming up."
"Alright, see ya sis."
"Before I go, can I have your number, Kenma?"
"Oh, uh...sure. I'll have Kuro text it to you."
"Yay! Thank you!"
"Y-you're welcome?"
"Alright, bye guys!"
"Bye."
"See ya."
Akari hung up, Kuroo immediately tossing his phone to the side.
"Sorry about her," Kuroo sighed.
"It's alright, she seems nice."
"She's annoying."
"She's not as bad as you."
"Kenma!"
Kenma grinned, taking his phone out of his pocket. "Why did she want my number?"
"Probably just to annoy you more. I won't give it to her if you don't want me to."
"No, it's alright. I actually was wondering, why haven't you told me that you have a sister?"
"Oh, I guess it just never came up. We don't really see each other often, but we talk a lot over the phone." Kuroo looked down, "She...went with my mom when-"
"I'm sorry, Kuro."
"Oh, it's fine."
"You didn't need to bring your mom up, I know how much that still affects you."
Kuroo looked back up at Kenma, his hazel eyes meeting Kenma's golden ones.
"Kenma, I'm fi-"
"Please don't force yourself to bring up something that upsets you. I've never liked seeing you upset, Kuro."
Kenma slowly moved his hand, gently grabbing Kuroo's hand. Kuroo's gaze never left Kenma's eyes.
"Promise me you won't force yourself to say stuff?"
Kuroo hesitated before answering.
"I promise."
