"So, am I able to meet that 'someone' yet?" Bokuto asked, elbowing Kuroo's arm.
Kenma glanced up at Kuroo before looking back down at the game he was playing on his phone.
"Yeah, actually." Kuroo said, putting his arm around Kenma's shoulders, "Kenma and I are dating."
Kenma tried to ignore his racing heart. He was already starting to regret agreeing to this.
"Oh?" Bokuto looked between Kuroo and Kenma a few times, as if trying to decide if Kuroo was lying or not. Kenma doesn't seem to be denying it at all. So then they probably are dating! "Alright, I believe you."
Kuroo grinned.
"There you are, Bokuto-san." Akaashi spoke up, walking over to the other three, "I was looking for you."
"Aghaashi!" Bokuto shouted, pulling poor Akaashi into the tightest hug Bokuto could possibly give.
"B-Bokuto-san...I...can't breathe."
"Ah! Sorry, sorry!" Bokuto quickly released him.
"It's alright. Ah, Kuroo-san, Kozume-san. How are you two?"
"We're good." Kuroo answered for both of them.
"That's good to hear."
"Kuroo was just telling me that he and Kenma are dating!"
"Is that so?" Akaashi looked at Kuroo for confirmation, Kuroo nodding in response. "Well I'm happy for you two then."
"Kuro, we have a practice match in a few minutes."
"Oh wait, we do?"
"You're the team captain, you should know this."
"Well I- let's just go get ready."
"Okay."
"See ya Kuroo!" Bokuto shouted as Kuroo and Kenma began walking off.
Kuroo waved in response.
"Bokuto-san, their practice match is against us." Akaashi spoke softly.
"Wait it is!?"
"Please lower your voice a bit, but yes."
"Sorry, Aghaashi! Let's go get ready!" He grabbed Akaashi's hand, and began pulling him across the gym. "We're gonna win! Hey hey hey!!"
The match was long and tiring. Kenma struggled staying focused, his mind kept going back to Kuroo, to the stupid idea he somehow got Kenma to agree to. He hoped that it would all work out in the end, that once they went home it'd all be back to normal. He hoped that this wouldn't affect their friendship, and that Kuroo wouldn't figure out how Kenma truly feels. As long as Kenma didn't say anything about how he felt, it'd be okay, right? Kenma hoped so.
"Kenma!" Yaku shouted, motioning for Kenma to go to him.
Once Kenma was close enough, Yaku began talking again.
"You seemed really distracted today, everything alright?"
"Yeah, what's wrong, Kenma?" Kuroo asked, standing next to Yaku.
"Oh it's..." Kenma looked down, "sorry, I'm fine. I'll do better next time."
"Are you sure there's nothing bugging you?" Yaku asked, concern clear in his voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Hey hey hey!" Bokuto shouted, running over and throwing his arm around Kuroo's shoulder. "That was a great match, huh?"
"You're only saying that cause you won." Kuroo grinned.
"What about your boyfriend? He seemed like he had no idea what he was doing." Bokuto asked, pointing to Kenma.
"Boyfriend?" Yaku questioned.
"Didn't you know? Kuroo and Kenma are dating!"
"Dating, huh?" Yaku looked between Kuroo and Kenma.
Kenma tilted his head further down, allowing his hair to cover his face completely, not wanting anyone to see how red his face was.
"Bokuto-kun, can I please talk to these two?" Yaku asked, grabbing Kenma and Kuroo's shirts.
"Come on, Bokuto-san." Akaashi gently tugged Bokuto's sleeve to gain his attention.
"Coming Aghaashi!"
Once those two were far enough away, Yaku began scolding his two teammates.
"Dating? Are you serious?"
"Well Kuro-" Kenma began, getting cut off by Yaku.
"So what? Is this some stupid joke or what? I know Kuroo can't keep a secret, so there's no way that-"
"It was Kuro's idea."
"So what was this 'idea'?"
"I asked Kenma to pretend to be my boyfriend so I could get Bokuto to shut up."
"And you agreed, Kenma?"
"Kuro promised to buy me these video games that I've been really wanting and-"
"So you agreed just so you could get video games?"
Kenma sighed, "Yes."
"You two really are idiots." Yaku punched both of them.
"So let me get this straight. Kuroo, you asked Kenma to be your fake boyfriend, all because you wanted to shut Bokuto up?"
"...yes."
"And Kenma, you agreed just so you could get video games?"
"Yeah."
"I can't believe how stupid you two can be. So is that what's been bugging you, Kenma?"
Kenma stayed silent, not knowing how exactly to answer.
"I take that as a yes, then."
"Kenma, are you uncomfortable with this?" Kuroo asked, noticing the change in Kenma.
"I..."
"You don't have to do this if you don't want to."
"I just....I need time to think." Kenma quickly walked towards the door of the gym, and soon disappeared outside.
Once he was finally alone, he threw himself onto the grass, laying on his back. He stared at the clouds as he tried sorting out his thoughts.
"I don't know if I can do this," he began speaking to himself. "Every time someone says we're dating, I get so flustered, even though I know it's fake! But it also hurts knowing it's fake, knowing that Kuro is only doing this to make himself feel better, knowing that Kuro will never really love me."
Tears pricked Kenma's eyes, he tried to ignore them. "Why did I agree to this? I really am stupid! Why would Kuro ask me to help him? Why not someone else? Why can't I just love someone else!? Why do I have to love my best friend? It all hurts so damn bad!"
The tears finally began to fall. They began to pour down, Kenma unable to stop the flow.
"I hate this so much! I hate this fake dating! I hate Kuro! I... why does this have to happen to me?"
Kenma sat up, wiping the tears from his face. "I made up my mind. I'm telling Kuro I don't want to do this anymore."
