After the sun was down, the two boys climbed off the rock wall.
"Next time, we're staying home and playing video games." Kenma spoke, as the two of them held hands and walked home in the dark.
"Alright, fine."
They walked in silence for a few minutes. Kuroo began to notice Kenma's pace slowing down. He turned back to face the smaller boy, noticing just how exhausted he looked.
"Are you tired?"
Kenma only hummed in response.
"Here," Kuroo crouched down in front of Kenma, "I'll carry you home."
Kenma was too tired to decline, so he climbed onto Kuroo's back.
Kuroo stood back up as Kenma lazily rested his arms around Kuroo's shoulders.
"I'm sure your mom is worried about us," Kuroo laughed.
Kenma let out a small chuckle, resting his head on Kuroo's shoulder.
Cute, Kuroo thought.
Silence once again fell over them, Kenma quickly falling asleep.
Kuroo slowly neared the front door of Kenma's house. He knocked on the door, it opened almost immediately, relief replacing the worried look on Kenma's mom's face as she saw the two boys.
"Why were you out so late? And why are you covered in dirt? Are you both okay? Oh, please come in, it's getting cold out! I'll call your dad and tell him you're back!"
"Sorry, ma'am." Kuroo spoke quietly to not wake Kenma up as he walked inside, Kenma's mom closing the door behind him.
"It's alright, Tetsurou. Are you both alright?" she scanned them both, looking at all the dirt and scrapes on them.
"Yeah, we're fine. I was teaching Kenma how to play volleyball, and then we watched the sunset before coming back."
"Oh, that explains it." she let out a sigh of relief.
"Kenma just got tired."
Kenma's mom smiled at them. "You can just take him up to his room if that's not too difficult."
"Yes, ma'am. I got it." he began waking towards the stairs.
"Tetsurou," she called, causing him to stop and look at her, "you can call me Kozume-san if you'd like."
"Oh alright, Kozume-san."
They both smiled, then Kuroo went up to Kenma's room.
He gently placed Kenma on his bed, pulling the covers up to cover up the small boy. Kenma began to stir at Kuroo's movements, slowly opening his eyes, meeting Kuroo's own.
"Sorry, Kenma. Didn't mean to wake you-"
"Thank you." Kenma whispered.
"Huh? For what?"
Kenma gave a small smile, shutting his eyes before continuing to speak. "For being my friend. I had fun."
Kuroo smiled back at him, "You don't need to thank me for that, Kenma. I'll always be your friend."
"Forever?"
"Forever."
