~8 years later~

"I don't like this." Kenma spoke, his head down as he stared at his feet.

He walked along side Kuroo, who had suggested they'd go to school early so he could show Kenma around.

"Relax, you'll be fine." Kuroo said, attempting to reassure Kenma.

"There will be so many new people. They'll probably be annoying."

"Nekoma isn't that bad. Are you still planning to join the team?"

"You know I don't like volleyball all that much."

"How could you not enjoy playing? You're so good at it!"

"I know, you say that a lot."

"That's because it's true!"

"I'll see about joining."

"I can help you out with that."

"Yeah yeah, you're just supposed to be showing me around the school."

"You know, I'm only showing you around to be nice. I could just let you go and wonder around by your self."

"I'm surprised you didn't."

"I'm not that mean!"

The two of them continued talking as they neared the school. Kenma had never been inside of the building, and he didn't like how big it looked. It just meant there'd be more people.

Kuroo was a bit worried about how his friend would be. It's his first day in Nekoma High School, and since Kuroo is a second year, they won't be seeing each other much. He knew that Kenma wasn't great at making friends, and even sometimes ignored people so they'd leave him alone. He really hoped Kenma wouldn't end up making any enemies, though.

"Are we going to be able to see each other at lunch?" Kenma asked, as they finally reached the school.

"Yeah, why? You gonna miss me?" Kuroo joked.

"Never mind, now I don't want to."

"Kenma!" Kuroo put his hand over his heart, acting as if he were offended.

"You're so annoying."

"How could you? Rude!"

Kenma rolled his eyes. It's too early for Kuro's drama.

The two of them walked around the school, Kuroo showing Kenma where everything is. He made sure to also show Kenma where the gym was, and where he could go to join the volleyball team.

"And just on time!" Kuroo spoke loudly, looking at the clock. "You remember where your classroom is?"

"Yeah." Kenma looked down.

Kuroo put his hand on Kenma's head, ruffling his hair. "You'll be alright, Kenma."

"Kuro, stop." Kenma felt his face heating up.

Kuroo just laughed as he pulled Kenma into a hug.

Kenma felt his heart beat increase, and his face turn red.

"Kuro-"

"See ya at lunch, don't make any enemies." Kuroo laughed once again, before breaking the hug and walking off to his classroom.

Kenma stood still, watching Kuroo walk away until he disappeared around a corner. His heart was racing, and he wasn't even sure why. He's felt this way for a while, and it only happens around Kuroo. But...why? What was this feeling?

Kenma suddenly snapped back into reality at the sound of the bell. He quickly rushed to get to his classroom, remembering where Kuroo had shown him it was.

Kenma found his classes quite easy, as he was a fast learner. Once the lunch bell had rang, most of the students in his class had gotten out of their seats. Some had left, others started talking.

"Hey." a boy had slammed his hands on Kenma's desk, causing Kenma to flinch.

"H-hi?"

"I'm Yamamoto, wanna hang out during lunch?"

"Oh, uh..." Kenma looked down, fidgeting with his fingers. "I-I already have someone to hang out with."

"There's nothing wrong with hanging out with two people, right?"

"I-"

"Come on! Uh, what's your name? Kozume, right?"

"Uh, y-yea-"

"Cool! Come on, Kozume!"

Yamamoto grabbed Kenma's hand, pulling him out of his seat, through the classroom, and into the hallway.

"So, who are you hanging out with?"

Kenma wasn't even sure where he would find Kuroo, and he didn't like this new kid dragging him around. Yamamoto was starting to remind him of Kuroo when they were younger.

"Kozume?"

Kenma's attention quickly snapped back to Yamamoto.

Kenma opened his mouth to speak, when he suddenly heard a familiar voice.

"Kenma!"

Kenma looked in the direction of the voice, immediately finding Kuroo.

"Who's that?" Yamamoto asked.

Kenma attempted to pull his hand away from Yamamoto, but failed. Kuroo took notice of this.

"Who's this?" Kuroo asked as he got closer to the two first years.

"I'm Yamamoto."

Kenma didn't say anything, instead he just stared at Kuroo with a "Help me" kind of expression on his face.

"Kozume and I were about to hang out for lunch, uh, is this the one you said you were going to be hanging out with?"

"Yeah, I'm Kuroo. But Kenma and I have stuff we need go do. I have to help him sign up for volleyball and-"

"You're signing up for volleyball, too?" Yamamoto spoke excitedly, his full attention now on Kenma. "I can come with you guys!"

"Actually-" Kuroo began, immediately getting cut off by Yamamoto again.

"Come on!" Yamamoto started running, pulling Kenma behind him.

"Wait!" Kuroo yelled, beginning to run after them. "Damn kids."
