They sat upon their street, the cold concrete doing neither of them favours.
Hana waited for Sunwoo to talk, but he didn't quite know how. She glanced over to see him looking at the sky, mumbling to himself. He looked back at her, narrowing his eyes. "I find this hard-"
"Write it down, or something," the girl shrugged, looking away.
It was then she didn't notice that Sunwoo's face relaxed, his eyes were wider. She had never been this nice, even at that it wasn't much. "I guess I wanted to say thank you."
"You guess?" Hana scoffed. "I don't need my time wasted."
"Won't you let me talk?" The boy argued, watching as the girl pursed her lips mockingly. If it weren't her, maybe he would have laughed. "My mother, she's alright."
"Really?" She smiled genuinely, nonetheless. "That's great. I'm really glad, Sunwoo."
"So," the boy coughed, looking away. "Thank you for keeping the faith. You told me everything would be okay, and it was."
Hana shrugged, smiling sadly, mumbling. "I just wish someone had told me that and actually meant it."
The boy continued to rabble, looking everywhere but the girl.
"I know it's something everyone says, and maybe they kick themselves when things don't turn out to be okay, but - it meant a lot. I know you went through a similar thing," Sunwoo continued, silence falling over the two for a minute. "So, I just wanted to say thank you for coming home with me."
"No worries," Hana nodded sincerely. "That's the only nice thing I'll do for you, ever."
"Well, we won't be seeing each other that often," the red haired boy shrugged as he stood up. "So, I'll remember it."
The girl shot up with him, her face falling. "Where are you going?"
Sunwoo scoffed, a small chuckle escaping his lips. "Christ, you sound like you actually care. But we're moving soon, so I won't annoy you for much longer."
Hana nodded slowly, watching as the boy walked backwards before he reached the pavement.
For the first time, Kim Sunwoo waved goodbye to the girl.
And for the first time, Chun Hana realised life without him would probably be even more miserable.
But why?
