The school week went by rather quickly as you got lost in your work. Severus had gotten called away for something leaving you to run his class for a few days. You finally understood his need for an assistant. The paperwork was piling up leaving you little to no time with Wendy or Minerva.

The students had been rowdy at first but when they realized you were business as usual they fell in line. You taught, made lesson plans, graded papers, and taught some more. It was a grueling cycle that made the week seem like a month. Your bubbly personality was slowly dwindling as the week went on as well. You were exhausted and frankly pissed off at the sudden disappearance of Severus.

But Saturday finally rolled around the corner and Severus was back in his office for the first time in days. He hated to admit he missed the annoying school but it was better than being at the ministry. He was being questioned, again, for his part in the death of the dark lord. He even spent a few nights in Azkaban when the ministry couldn't make up their minds.

Your appearance at the door softened his outward expression. You didn't seem to notice him as you ran a hand through your hair and sighed. Walking to the pile of ungraded assignments on your desk. He watched you patiently waiting for you to notice him.

But minutes passed and you didn't even look up. "Need a hand?"

"I'd love one thanks Sev... Severus?!" You whipped your head up staring at the man across from you. How long has he been there? Thank goodness he's ok! You jumped up and captured him in your loving embrace. "Where have you been? I've been worried sick about you, Severus." That was true in some aspects but you had honestly forgotten that he was going to return.

He smiled lovingly down at you, placing a small kiss on your forehead. "I missed you too Y/n." His low chuckle sent tingles down your spine. "I had issues with the Ministry, no big deal. How have you been?"

"I understand why you needed an assistant Sev. I have so much paperwork from just one week!"

"It can wait. I have a surprise for you." He took your hand in his and led you up staircase after staircase. Finally you reached the astronomy tower and you walked to the edge where the stars were shining brightly.

"Oh wow. It's beautiful out here." He walked up behind you wrapping his arms around your small figure and putting his head on top of yours.

"I missed you Y/n. I can't wait for our date." The two of you stood together like that for a while before you turned to face him.

"Severus, I... I've only been in one true relationship in my lifetime and it didn't end well. I don't know how to care for someone the way I should. I will push your buttons and hurt your feelings. I'll probably hurt myself too." He stayed silent letting you continue. "But, I am excited to try again. Even if the risks are large." You leaned your head against his chest breathing in his scent that you missed so much."

"I have had very few successful relationships. It will be trial and error for us both." A gust of wind barreled at the two of you forcing any space left between you to dissipate. You looked up at the dark handsome man before you and smiled, standing on your tiptoes to kiss him.

"Thank you Severus. I didn't think I could ever feel like this again." His hand brushed back and forth against your invisible scar. You leaned into his touch memorizing how it felt to be held by him.

You headed back down to the dungeons after a little while longer of staring at the stars. He walked you to your door before departing for his own quarters. His hand on your chin and his lips on yours ran through your head for the rest of the night until you drifted off to a wonderful sleep filled with peaceful thoughts.

The next night you dropped Wendy off at daycare even though it was Sunday and rummaged through your closet to find a suitable outfit for your date. Throwing clothes out of your dresser and making a pure mess out of your room until you finally saw it.

The dress was a deep green that if you didn't look closely enough you could think it was black. It had beautiful long sleeves and a deep v-neck that shows just the right amount of cleavage. The base of the dress flared out with a slit going up your leg. It had started snowing overnight and you continued to scavenge your clothing to find your dark cloak that almost matched Severus's. It was just a little shorter so it wouldn't drag on the floor.

Excited, you took a warm shower and charmed your hair to fall in long curls that frame your face. After making sure that your charm for your scars was working correctly you dried off. You slid into your dress and buttoned your cloak on. To add a little flare you paired the dress with an emerald necklace that glittered in the right lighting.

Finally happy with your clothing and looks you head to your shoe rack to find your black heels.

You leave your quarters looking absolutely stunning. A boy who was passing you even whistled at you making you chuckle at his boldness. You made it to the potions classroom where Severus was sitting grading leftover papers before the two of you left. His eyes looked you up and down in a possessive way. He stood and walked over to you in only a few steps. His hand found your waist and pulled you into him, allowing him to kiss you deeply.

"You look ravishing darling." he growled out against your lips.

"You are quite flattering yourself Sev. But thank you for the compliment." You kissed him again before you were directed out of the castle, far enough away to apparate.

Your body contorted and you felt as if you were flying and being stretched at the same time. Your hands dug into Severus making sure to not let go. You had never been a fan of the feeling of apparating. When the feeling subsided you looked around. You were in a dark alleyway somewhere.

"Follow me love." He commanded and you were pulled along by the arm gently as you walked the busy streets.

"Where are we, Severus?" You ask in awe of the beautiful lights and bustling streets.

"New York. I like to travel and I know the best restaurant." He kept it short and to the point. He didn't want to give away too many details.

You rounded the corner and saw a dimly lit restaurant only a few feet away. Sev opened the door for you and you headed inside. Immediately the warm air surrounded your body, vanishing the cold. Snape went up to the hostess and gave the name for the reservation.

You were directed to a private table with a gorgeous window view.

"Do you like it?" Sev asked after he had ordered a bottle of champagne.

"Do I like it? Sev I love it! How did you get the reservations so quickly?"

"I pulled in a few favors I had saved up." It was in fact the truth, Lucius always called Severus when he needed help with something even though the two hated each other.

The two of you bantered and flirted the night away in the cozier little diner. Before you knew it you had downed two bottles of champagne together and finished your food. Severus paid the check and escorted you back into the freezing weather.

"Where to now?" You asked, not being able to stand the suspense.

"You're so impatient love, it's a surprise."

"I hate surprises just as much as you do Severus if not more!"

"Well you surely liked the last one, did you not?"

You huffed out a sigh; "Yes, yes I did enjoy the diner."

"Very well then. Trust me." He still did not know the extent of how hard it was to follow through with those two words. But you did it anyway letting him walk with you through the crowd of people bustling about.

Finally he stopped in front of a large hotel plaza. "Severus?" You eyed him suspiciously. Though you did like the idea.

"You could use a night out and away from stress. I have Minerva checking in on Wendy every few hours as well. Do not fear." He led you inside and took the key from the clerk.

With the key and room number in hand he led you to the elevator and into your suite.
