[8] Troubled waters

You and everyone in the group looked at each other with skeptical looks, after Scaramouche calls you an hour after Ayato and Beidou had left the estate.

Scaramouche had told you through the call, but it was on speaker phone for everyone in the living room to hear, that you, Xiao and Itto have to come along.

"Arrive by 10:30, don't be late."

Everyone and including you were holding their breaths till he hung up, the only noise in the house was the beeping of the phone and each other's breathing. You looked at everyone and there was concern in everyone's eyes.

"It's... 8:15 right now, I think we should start getting thing's ready and set up the van. Since we can't tell anyone, not even Ayato and Beidou, we have to do this ourselves." Thoma spoke up after long moments of silence.

"We have to work quickly then." Itto says abruptly, a deep frown cascading his face.

The guys went to help Thoma set up everything in the van while you and the girls went to grab whatever weapons you could find in such a short notice. You knew he would be calling but, you only had two hours to get everything right and ready.

You didn't want to head in without any preparation and without a strategic plan. Knowing Scaramouche, he would be planning something.

Having to see him again was already settling a bad feeling in the pit of your stomach. You hated it. Hate how even after all these years, he still sets your skin into goosebumps and tremble with anger and... fear.

"Okay! We're done over here!" Itto yells as he was coming back inside the house after helping Thoma with the van.

His eyes went straight to yours when he saw you in the living room, blankly staring at the floor. He placed a hand on your shoulder and you startled, looking up at him, "I'm okay.. don't worry" you forced a smile as you noticed him looking at you with concern.

Itto's crimson eyes stares at you for a few more moments until he averts them, "y'know we don't have to go—

"No, we have to go," you tried to keep your voice from sounding too shaken up, "but I promise to tell you if I'm not okay, y'know how I got when they first mentioned him in the meeting room the first day." You mumbled quietly and Itto stares, then nods at that.

He motions you with his hand to get closer to him and you do. Itto wraps his arms around you, enveloping you in a big hug while he rests his chin on top of your head while you wrap your arms around his waist.

You always liked how he always comforted you whenever that certain person was brought up back then during your younger years.

The Oni ends up letting you go but he doesn't fully release his hands around you, "if he does something I will not hesitate to fuck him up." He sends his signature toothy grin your way and you laughed.

So when the moment you're all buckled in and listening to the song: The spins by Mac Miller, everyone in the car was singing along before Thoma came to a stop by an alleyway and put the lights on inside the van, turning around to face you all.

"Since we all have our phones turned off so Ayato doesn't get suspicious where we're at. We need to be discreet since he only asked you three, so Hu tao and Yoimiya will be out on top of a nearby rooftop with snipers if any case this goes wrong, got it?"

"Got it!"

Hu tao and Yoimiya went in the back with Thoma to set up the snipers up, leaving you with Xiao and Itto to discuss what to do.

First, if anything were to go off, Hu tao and Yoimiya will be far away on the rooftop to stop anyone they set their eyes on to protect the three of you. If there's anyone outside, they will take care of it while the rest will depend on you three. The Fatui is a well known gang and basically the top dogs around.
