[14] Devil in disguise

Itto's eyes widened when the first round of gunshots fired into the building, making him and you still in the moment of your dancing.

At first he was just focused on you and just you. But then the shooting happened and now he was panicking as he held you close in his arms as you were bleeding on your side.

His eyes scanned the entire ballroom breathing heavily as he tries locating where the shots were being fired from. Then he remembered about Ayato's saftey, making him inwardly groan and double tapped on his ear piece.

"Shots are being fired inside the ballroom! Try finding the culprits!" He yells and helps others escape before he then ushers you inside a bathroom.

He rushes to get a handful of paper towels and sets you on top of the counter of the sinks. Itto examines what he can see and applied pressure on the wound, making you hiss but you held your hand over his.

"Seems it only grazed you... I— I'm sorry."

You shook your head and weakly smiled at him, "we couldn't have known, it happened quickly. But we need to find the others though." You coughed and winced, still keeping your hands placed over the wound as his hands slipped away nodding.

He calls in and Thoma finally answers.

"There's more Fatui pulling up just outside the place. I'll send in some backup!"

Itto sighs heavily and leans against the sink to think for a few moments. "We need to head out and find the girls and Xiao then find Ayato." He says as he starts shrugs off the sleeves of the yukuta, revealing a tight black shirt.

"Shouldn't we find him first? We were supposed to be guarding him as it was asked by Beidou." You slid off the counter and patted the wound area and throwing the paper towels away.

"He can handle himself. What we need is to find the others and gather since we don't know who is here." Itto then grabs the gun he was hiding under his yukuta and checks if there's ammo.

You slowly nodded and grabbed yours out too. The two of you walked out of the bathroom checking left and right—making quick and quiet movements. The ballroom area was empty and no signs of the Fatui yet or anyone strange lingering around.

After walking slowly along the walls and stopping any time you thought there were footsteps around, but Itto quickly turns and covers your figure with his body. His hand was over your mouth and he gestured his head to the side, then tapping at his pierced ear for you to listen.

"I want them found now! I don't care if you kill them, I want them brought to me. I'll go and find Ayato myself."

Silence lingered in the air for a couple moments until the footsteps retreated back to where they came from. You both let out a sigh and looked at one another.

"That was definitely Scaramouche..." you whispered and he nodded. Itto tapped on the ear piece and told Thoma right away.

"Thoma said that Xiao contacted him a few minutes ago that he's upstairs in some room. We can go find him then the girls—

A loud crash and a few rounds of bullets were heard just around the corner. Itto tugs you behind him while holding his pistol as he turns the corner—motioning you that it area was clear. A few screams echoed that sounded an awful lot like Yoimiya.

Tugging on Itto, you quickly and hopefully quietly, ran towards the exact area where the screams were. Itto kicks the door open and raises his gun as you did the same, checking the room and then your eyes widened.

Yoimiya and Hu tao were in a corner heavily breathing, as there was two bodies of Fatui members were on the floor. Blood was seeping right underneath the gang members and the clatter of the gun hitting the ground got your attention back to the girls.
