Mistakes

Miracles do happen....

Vanessa's POV

Basically here's what happened: Ethan's electrocardiographic monitor started going beep. And his heart beat was getting lower and lower.

For a moment I couldn't say or do anything. Then I started screaming and yelling, "Call the doctor!!! Call the doctor!!!!".

I was crying, screaming and yelling all at the same time. In about 3 seconds the doctor came in the room running, with a couple of nurses following him.

As soon as he saw the EKG monitor, he ordered his nurses to do some stuff to Ethan. Ethan was breathing hard even with the oxygen mask, his little chest going up and down. Then he come to me, and said, "Miss Pettyfer, we are doing everything to save him, but don't be surprised if.....well if something happens."

I can't believe it. He said it so easily like it was nothing. Probably it is nothing to him, but it's everything to me. He probably has many cases like this coming up every day. I felt the anger rise inside me.

I grabbed the collar of his shirt and screamed into his face, "Then why do you even call yourself a doctor! Your supposed to be saving lives!!!"

As soon as I lifted my hand to slap him, Alex pulled me backwards.

"Nessa" Alex said, "Stop it he's tryna help us. Sorry doctor she's jus-"

"What the heck? My kid is dying an-" I started as, Alex just dragged me towards the corner. But then I caught a glance of the EKG Monitor. The line was gunna go straight in a couple seconds. By that time somehow, some way Zayn had come in the room.

"What happened?!?!?!"

"What are you doing here!"

"Niall called me and told me something's going on."

Then I saw Niall standing in the corner of the room, giving me the I'm sorry look. By this time Zayn was on Ethan's bedside. Then he just broke down.

I was shocked. His job was to make people cry not cry himself. I've never seen Zayn so broken down.

"Don't go Ethan! I've never been a good dad! Please just become okay and then daddy will buy you everything you want and show you he's a great dad! Please!" Zayn sobbed.

Then suddenly the almost straight line on the EKG Monitor went up and started returning to the normal heart rate. For a moment everyone was surprised, including the doctor and nurses. Then they got to work and injected Ethan with something. And Ethan started to breathe normally.

"This is the miracle!"the doctor told me "This only happens in 2/10 cases!"

Alex left me seeing that I had calmed down a bit. I hugged the doctor and said, "Thank you sooo much!!!"

"First she wants to kill me then she hugs me. Weird lady." He muttered as he rushed to help the nurses.

Then suddenly Ethan opens his slowly. I rushed to his side.

He says one word. His first proper word.

"Daddy."
