Zayn's POV
It was about 6:00 PM the same day Vanessa had disappeared. I was at the police office.
"So, Mr. Malik, when did she go missing." Det. Williamson asked from the other side of the table. She was the senior detective. She looked about 25 or 26 and not older than that. But I don't know how she got to that job because even 40 year olds struggle to get that job.
Det. Williamson had her blonde hair tied up in a pony tail. She had blue eyes. She was wearing a blue blouse and a pencil skirt. She was wearing black flat slippers.
The room was making me feel uncomfortable. The walls were painted white and there were three chairs. On one Detective Williamson was seated; on one I was seated and on the third one Detective Williamson's assistant Matt Kershaw was seated. The lights were dim and from what I could tell, the walls were sound proof.
I was really claustrophobic, so I felt like I was going to pass out, but I tried to keep myself in place so that they don't suspect me. But I knew they already did.
"Um I don't know the exact time. But I can say she did leave at about 8:00 AM. And she left me this note." I handed over the note Vanessa had left in the morning, which I had still kept with me. Det. Williamson went through the note and handed it back to me.
"So how did you find out about all this?" Det. Williamson asked as she kept her elbow on the table and her palm on her chin.
I told her the whole thing.
"Hmmm. So do you suspect anyone?" She asked.
I did have suspects. Well, not really suspects. Suspect. And that suspect was Tom. He has a strong motive for kidnapping Vanessa. I had told Vanessa to tell the police about what he had done to her, but then she reminded me that I had done worse things and still she hadn't gone to the police because of one reason. Lack of proof.
"No. I don't suspect anyone." I lied.
I think Det. Williamson understood that I was lying because after a few seconds, she looked at me and said, "Are you sure?"
I wanted to say 'yes'. But why would I do that? I have to help Vanessa.
"Actually yes, I do suspect someone." I said confidently.
"Who?"
"Vanessa's ex boyfriend. His name is Tom." I said.
"Why do you suspect him?" She asked.
I didn't want to tell her about what he had done to Vanessa without her permission. It was after all her personal matter.
"Because he is her ex boyfriend. There must be some bad blood between the two of them." I said.
"Okay, we'll check up on that. What is his full name?" She asked taking a notepad out of her blazer pocket.
"Tom Catvans." I said. She scribbled it down on her notepad and kept it back in her pocket.
"So those kids sitting outside," She said, referring to Emily and Ethan. "Who are they to you?"
"Emily and Ethan. They are my children." I said making a special emphasis on 'my'.
