"And it's that reasoning that Sailor Moon is nothing more than a stunt from a promotions company, "The auditorium cheered as the male student bowed, taking his leave back to his podium allowing for the other student to take his place at the microphone.
Saki sat, the sound of grinding teeth echoing from her as Emiko and Michiko tried to keep her to her seat, holding each arm down against the chair. Today was the Debate Clubs latest match with the topic of, 'Who or What is Sailor Moon?' As predicted, Emiko knew this would rile Saki and despite protests of not coming, here they were, holding her down. The next contestant was a beautiful young woman, shining black hair tied up in a tight bun on the back of her head and not one piece of her uniform out of place. "Sailor Moon," She began giving a smile that showed care. "Is the symbol of hope we all needed for a long time."
"Hell yeah!" Saki broke free of her restraints, raising her arms in victory.
A teacher looked over, shushing Saki. Panicked, Emiko and Michiko jumped, Michiko holding a hand over Saki's mouth as Emiko pulled her back down to her seat by the shoulders. With a cough, the girl on the stage continued her argument, Emiko trying her hardest to give it her full attention. "Sailor Moon is someone whom protects everyone, no matter the cost and we don't have enough people like that anymore. We need a role model for young people for boys and girls, that shows, no matter what, we fight and protect for those we love." Emiko felt her face heat up, the girl's gaze meeting her own. "She is no marketing stunt. The people in the hospital who have been affected by these attacks, resolved by Sailor Moon, will tell you otherwise. We must all show her our continued support and embrace the woman who is putting her life on the line for us."
The girl bowed and majority of the auditorium were up on their feet, clapping for an amazing rebuttal. "I believe by that cheer, Mayumi is our winner," The teacher clapped, gesturing to the girl a she made the announcement.
"That Mayumi girl is really impressive," Saki complimented as the girls made their way out of the auditorium. "She clearly knew about how awesome you are, you know?"
Emiko sighed, of course Saki would say something like that. Though, she was right, Mayumi was truly impressive and Emiko wasn't sure how to process the information. Everything that was said, it was about her but at the same time it wasn't. Is she truly Sailor Moon or is she but just a shadow of the original? A poor imitation of the real deal? "I'm going to head to the library for a bit," Emiko proclaimed, shocking the others. "I want to grab some books; you can carry on to lunch without me."
Not giving them a chance to respond, Emiko took a quick leave. The library was always quiet at lunch and sacrificing the chance of lunch with Senku was going to be worth it if the books she longed for were going to be back. With a hum, she used her finger to follow the titles, smiling widely as she managed to locate the book she wanted. She pulled it out, looking at the front of the book. 'Silver Legacy, The story of Queen Serenity.'
She took a nearby seat, opening the book and leaning over, sighing in awe at the photos that pictured the Queen with lustrous silver hair, bright blue eyes and a warm smile. "You have the same buns," Emiko moved back, seeing Mayumi smiling down at her. "Much like the Queen. Though I must say it suits you."
Emiko's blush returned as Mayumi sat beside her. "I feel I can't argue with the debate team's winner," She giggled. "Thank you."
"I've seen you around before," Mayumi advised. "We're both first years, so I find it strange we haven't bumped into each other before."
"I usually eat by the school's statue," Emiko explained. "I guess being in different classes and club activities makes it hard to meet."
The girls continued to talk, deciding that Emiko would check out the book and taking a detour through the courtyard. Mayumi listened closely as Emiko spoke about her favourite stories from the Silver Legacy, she couldn't help but smile at someone having such a refreshing sense of innocents to them. She stopped, a sharp tinge hitting the back of her head. She looked up, seeing that a flower pot was about to fall from a second story window. Looking back, she gasped, seeing Emiko was in the line of impact. She rushed forward, pushing Emiko along as the pot fell behind them.
