Everyone crowded around Emiko, her transformation faded and she was back in her hospital gown. Nasa ran over, a paw on Senku's let as she knelt and pulled Emiko into his chest. Unlike before, he didn't feel like she could come back. Saki brought over the pieces of the crystal, holding them above Emiko's body, hoping that there would be any sort of reaction. "The crystal finally lost its power," Nasa sighed, heartbroken at the fragments in front of him.
"It can't," Saki clenched the fragments tightly, starting to cry heavily. "I'm not losing her, you, hear me?" She looked to See Emiko's eyes closed, shallow breathing but no sign she was going to wake up.
Saki dropped the fragments, the noise one like pins dropping. Michiko placed a hand on her shoulder, Saki breaking further and throwing herself into Michiko's arms as she too started to cry. Mayumi bit her lip, feeling helpless, if only there was a sign that everything was going to be okay. Was there not a vision the world could give her that would console them?
Daring to approach them, Masakuni knelt before Senku, a hand on his shoulder. "We may have a way," He advised, but no one believed him. The crystal was gone. Masakuni smiled, picking up the fragments and placing them on Emiko's stomach. "I understand it's hard to trust me but I would be failing you if I didn't show you the reason why I chose this particular lab."
Masakuni stood, indicating for Senku to bring Emiko with him and he started to lead all of them down the staircase. There was no reason to trust this man, yet, the girls felt as if they had no choice. Nasa had begun to wonder, what was special about this particular lab? As they continued their descent, he started to feel a familiar presence. The aura of this building had started to change the further down they went. It was like a blessing was about to greet them.
Masakuni stopped in front of two large double doors, Senku shocked that he had never been brought down this far before. The doors looked as if they had been painted with a crystal brush and were regal in decoration. "I found this place after I returned from the US," Masakuni smiled, turning to Senku, "Ironically, just as I met you. Perhaps it was fate that brought us together. So that I may show you this."
Turning back to the doors, pushing as them with both hands, the push enough for them to swing open on their own and its then Nasa realised where they were. The doors revealed the remains of the Crystal library that once resided in the palace. A place that Senku, as a young child, often escaped to. At the end of the room, floor to ceiling crystal pillars stood tall, a crystal platform sat in the middle, as if waiting for something.
"This was under the lab all this time," Kumi asked, staring in awe, noticing how there wasn't an empty space on the wall. Each shelf full with books, kept in pristine condition.
"Unbelievable," Nasa spoke up. "I can't believe this survived."
"Welcome everyone," That voice? Senku was the one to recognise it, turning to see an image of Neo Queen Serenity before him. The guardians bowed, showing their respect, Senku holding onto Emiko tighter. This is what Masakuni meant by a chance.
"Grandmother," Senku breathed out.
"My dear Senku," Queen Serenity spoke, solace in her voice. "My child of the moon, who has been through so much already."
"How is she speaking to us?" Saki questioned.
"A portion of myself was uploaded into the moon main frame to allow me to see you all in the right direction," Queen Serenity responded, shocking everyone. "I'm a mere ghost in my present form but I knew to protect the planet I loved, I had to take a drastic measure."
"Please," Senku started to plead. "The Crystal, it's gone but Emiko, I can't live without her."
Queen Serenity gestured for the platform. "Offer a prayer my child," She explained. "All of you, as chosen children of the Silver Millennium, please offer a prayer."
