CALLIE ITS URGENT FFS CALL ME PLS

—————————-

My heart pounding, I slid the notifications up and locked my phone. What could be so urgent it couldn't wait until morning? With a hand clasped around my neck, I pulled on my black choker. It was pretty uncomfortable to sleep with this thing on anyway, what was I thinking? I yanked it off and chucked it to the side, watching it skid across the wooden floor.

A heavy curtain of rain was still pounding down outside in the darkness. Another thunderbolt rolled and cracked through the sky. I shuddered and pulled the plush duvet more over my head, turning in to cuddle Alex. He was still smushing his face into the pillow and breathing deeply.

Barely any cars were passing by. The headlights from one garishly flashed into the room for a moment making me squint, before zooming away into the treacherous night.

Who was I kidding? I couldn't sleep like this.

Caving in to my worries, I reached for my phone again and sat up, checking on Alex the whole time. There was nothing to worry about with him though, he seemed to be a deep sleeper.

Taking in a long breath, I pressed Nadia's name in my contact list. Beep beep beep.

Error: No network connection.

The message flashed across the screen in black and white. So, I tried to connect to the shop wifi. PunkRoseWifi. There we go. For a while, I watched the wifi bars go up and down searching for signal. It failed to connect. This damn storm. I guess I really would have to wait until the morning.

In a way I kind of liked it. The whole world was falling apart. At least London was. The storm was tearing down trees, stopping cars and chaos was kicking off in my family. But there was me and Alex. Alex and me. Stuck inside together, cosy under our huge collection of duvets and blankets. All warm and snug and full of pizza and snacks - safe and happy. The world could be having the worst day ever, throwing a huge tantrum - but nothing could tear Alex and me apart. We'd somehow ended up stuck here together and nothing could get in the way.

So I snuggled up closer to him, his soft lashes caressing his cheeks whilst he was off in the land of dreams. I wondered if he was dreaming about Star Wars or me. Or something else entirely. Whatever it was, he looked happy. And I was so happy to be lucky enough to be here with him. I held his hand next to his face and lay there, stroking his caramel latte hair until I passed out.

"Good morning sunshine," I said with a smile, as Alex stretched and squinted into the natural morning light coming into the shop. Not that there was much of that.

"Good... mor... MORNING?!" Alex shot up in a panic and started rubbing his eyes.

"Yeah, it's, um," I paused to check my phone, now in range, it started buzzing with another call from Nadia, which I ignored. "9:35am," I finished finally, sliding my phone onto airplane mode and putting it back in my jeans' pocket.

"Oh my god, I didn't fall asleep during Star Wars did I?!" Alex sounded horrified at himself. It was quite funny to see.

"Yeah, you bet! Ugh, you are such a fake fan!" I teased, jabbing him with my elbow.
