Todoroki's P.O.V
After we left the room I stopped in the hall. I just needed a moment to process everything I just heard and the discussion we had with (L/N). I could tell Bakugo was extremely concerned for her the whole time, but what surprised me was the feeling of great concern I held myself. Just awhile ago I was willing to do anything to get rid of this girl and now I'm not so sure anymore. I've heard people say that death really can change your perspective on things, but I think this is the first time someone almost dying has really impacted me. And hearing those words from her, I can't imagine the mindset she's in right now. I figured I'd ask Bakugo if he knew but he seemed to beat me to it.
"What did you do while she was at your house? She's never thought like this before... Did you say something to her?" He questioned harshly. I knew he was just projecting his anger onto me and was just trying to find answers but for some reason his accusation offended me.
"I gave her space, and she opened up and told me about what happened on the mission. That's all she told me, in fact I was just about to ask you if she has been like that before." I fired back at him with a glare. For some reason I felt the need to be protective over my reputation in relation to (L/N). I could see he was about to say something when a new voice interrupted our conversation.
"Excuse me Todoroki, um did you just say (L/N) told you about the mission?" Midoriya questioned beside us. It seemed as if neither of us had noticed our fellow hero sitting in a chair beside the door we had just come from. "She almost never talks about it."
"Yah uh she kept waking up from nightmares so I had her talk them out to try and calm her down." I twisted the truth slightly. I didn't need another reason for an angry Bakugo to try and beat me up. I also realized that maybe the nightmare situation wasn't public knowledge, and upon seeing Midoriya's face I knew that to be the case.
"Shut it IcyHot, stop spilling (Y/N) personal life that you didn't need to know about in the first place. Aizawa and I are the only ones to know the full story so shut the hell up before you say something she doesn't want shared." Bakugo finished.
"You're right, I apologize for not thinking through my words carefully." I admitted realizing the truth in Bakugo's words. I had no idea what she has told the others and it was not my place to say when I couldn't even tell her about my own scar. "Now Midoriya are you here to check on her with Aizawa?"
"Yah I'm here to see how she's doing. Uraraka wanted to come but after her panic attack after the mission I made her go home and rest first before I came. I didn't want her to over work herself." Midoriya rambled with a small smile. It was clear to see that he genuinely cared for his partner and I had a feeling this Commission situation only made their relationship stronger.
"Well that was very kind of you Aizawa said he would get us when he's done so we can talk with her again." I informed him.
"Would you idiots shut up so I can hear!" Bakugo whisper shouted from by the door. His ear pressed against it clearly trying to hear the discussion happening in the room over. "Well don't just stand there idiots come over and listen if you want to know what's going on."
So instead of trying to figure out the missing pieces ourselves we decided to eavesdrop on a conversation going on in the room we were just kicked out of... yah probably not the best choice on our part but it is what it is. And after hearing everything Aizawa and (Y/N) said in the second half of their conversation, I really began to think about how to approach the situation afterwards. But before we knew it Aizawa came out and caught us all standing around pretending like we weren't just listening to everything he said.
After a moment of Aizawa's silent judgement I heard him say, "Whatever, it wasn't that important anyway. You guys can go talk to her, but you probably already heard that. Just try not to give her too hard of a time okay?" I took that as my que to enter the room with the other two behind me.
Upon hearing our footsteps (Y/N) looked up and her blank face began to slightly form a smile when she saw something behind me. I was quick to realize she was smiling at Midoriya as he rushed by me to give her a soft hug without saying anything. I could hear Bakugo huff from beside me, and was shocked he didn't say anything. Only then did I realize how tired and worn (Y/N) looked sitting on her bed. Before I was so worried I hadn't even noticed, and I assume that's the whole reason Bakugo didn't make a scene with Midoriya just now. I slowly made my way over and sat down in one of the chairs beside her bed. No one had spoke yet, but the short breather in the hall got me thinking so I decided to speak first,
"I'm sorry (Y/N). I should have not reacted the way I did when you woke up. I don't fully understand your situation nor will I ever, I was just extremely stressed and disappointed I couldn't help more. Then again that is absolutely no excuse. So please let me know if there's anything I could do to make it up to you..." I finished more quietly. I hoped by using her first name she wouldn't be offended, but rather understand the meaning and importance to my apology. I have no idea why it was so important to me that she forgave me, but something in me wanted the guilt to be settled.
But it wasn't her voice I heard next, "I'm sorry too, I was frustrated I couldn't get there faster and it scared me to think that situation could have happened again. When I got more details about the attack I freaked out and then seeing you so injured I was still in a state of panic when you woke up. So I'm sorry to take it out on you." Bakugo finished louder than he started. I was a little shocked to hear such a heart felt apology from him, so it was obvious he truly cares for (Y/N). In what way I still wasn't sure however.
"It's okay I forgive you guys. I understand how my actions could have affected you now and I wasn't in the right state of mind when talking to you guys also, so I'm sorry for scaring you too." She apologized calmly, but her next sentence shocked me. "Um I'm really tired guys and I appreciate you checking on me but could you let me rest? I'm still quite exhausted. But Todoroki could you stay awhile before you leave?" She questioned.
I was shocked she asked me to stay and not Bakugo, but I am assuming she had something she wanted to discuss with me so I nodded quickly in reply. I sat there and waited as she said her goodbyes to the other two of our friends, and the moment they closed the door she turned to me and asked "Can we talk?"
"Sure" I said. Even though I have no idea where this conversation may even lead.
