We Thought We Had Won

The infamous Class-1A had been through more than any group of kids should have ever had too. It seemed it was all worth it as all the students were now out in the world fresh out of school and pursuing their own hero careers. It had only been a month since their graduation at U.A. and their transition into the work of a full time Pro Hero. The world had been a dark place for a while after the retirement of All Might and everything surrounding the league, but that didn't deter the new heroes from setting out to try and bring hope back to the faces of the people.

The league had done and was still doing plenty of damage. All For One had remained locked up, but the same couldn't be said for the rest of the league. Everytime they managed to arrest a few some others would break out and the heroes had to start the cycle all over again. But with the recently graduated students they hoped the extra hands would help control the situation as the class has been dealing with the league for longer than anyone. They knew the drive the rising heroes had to end this conflict as they had been the ones on the front lines from the start. This had been some of the strongest group of heroes U.A had produced yet, whether that was from the early exposure to real villains or they just had stronger quirks than past generations no one was sure. But the media always had something to say about the newly official pros and that had caused everyone in the classes approval rates to sky rocket within their short time out of school. Thirteen out of twenty one students had already made it to the top 100, and four had made it to the top 30. The rest of the class wasn't far from the top 100 and within a few months it was most likely they would make it there too. They had all developed quite the fan bases after their time at U.A and even though they weren't too concerned with approval rates their fans kept growing. Everyone could see the good they were doing for Japan and it gave the people hope, but it also put a target on their backs for villains. However, this was nothing new or unexpected for the young heroes.

Aizawa couldn't be prouder of his students. Throughout his time with the class and all the hardships endured he often wondered if everyone would make it out on top. It brought him happiness anytime he would see an article on one of his old students bringing hope to the people. He knew they all had potential to be great and he was glad that he was right. Aizawa knew this upcoming generation of heroes would bring a new age, yet they needed time to do it. But sadly time was not a luxury they would get to have. After arguing over and over again it seems the future of these heroes would be different from the ones they had envisioned. No matter how much the U.A staff tried to avoid the situation and control the Hero Commission from doing anything to rash, they couldn't stop the inevitable. Aizawa knew this very well could be the breaking point for some of his past students, and he only hoped this one last curve ball wouldn't be the reason for the previous students of class 1-A to strike out.

The Hero Commission was corrupt this by now was a well known fact among the pro heroes. However, with their control over the media there was no way to prove the corruption to the people. Even if the Commission was removed they had no alternative to fill its place with. It was a case of sticking to the evil you know rather than the one you don't. And because of this there was no way to stop the Commission from going through with the horrendous idea they had developed. They approached the staff of U.A first as they were the ones training the best heroes as of late to inform them of their plan. They wanted help from the teachers to begin programing their idea into the thoughts of their students so they would be okay with the decision. To say the staff was appalled would be an understatement. The meeting ended with outburst of rage and refusals to do it. The Commission went on to say their plan would happen anyway so they are better off to prepare the upcoming heroes rather than shock them.

Next they went on to manipulate the media to get the people okay with their idea. What exactly is their idea you may ask well in short, quirk marriages. They had seen how the recent heroes strength is surpassing past generations and that they seem to finally be pulling ahead of the villains. And that's exactly how they began to condition the public to accept this idea. Now this idea didn't even affect the public directly. No the public was a puzzle piece into forcing the heroes to comply with this idea. The people wanted strong heroes to keep them safe so if the strongest heroes would have kids later on they would end up even stronger right? That was the assumption and people began to slowly jump on board with this idea. Now the hero commission had waited until the infamous class 1-A had graduated so that they had leverage. The requirement were that any pro hero between the ages 18-25 not married would be paired with another hero around the same strength level and they would be required to marry. If any pro refused to accept the terms their pro hero license would be revoked immediately and they would lose all standings as a hero.

The Commission had played smart Aizawa had to admit that. They waited until all the new heroes actually had a career worth losing, even though he believed most of them wouldn't give up their licenses anyway. He was worried for some of his old students knowing their was no way to avoid this without losing their career. He knew some of them would be okay as they were already dating someone who was close in their hero rank so they would probably be paired with their partner anyway. Others he was more concerned with how they would take the news. Sure there was Bakugo who was a hot head and Kaminari who was a flirt, but with time he had a feeling they would chill out and be okay. Who he was really worried about was Todoroki. Through out the three years he taught the youngest Todoroki he wasn't exactly sure everything that happened, but he knows it was a messy childhood. With all the pieces he could put together it seemed like a quirk marriage between Endeavor and Rei, but it was never his place to ask. But if that was the truth he was worried how Todoroki would react to the news seeing as he had a deeper connection to the topic than anyone else.

If it was to be paired by rank it seemed (L/N) would end up being his assigned partner. (L/N) was a sweet girl, good student, and adaptable. He knew she would take the situation in stride and try to do her best to make everyone around her comfortable, but Aizawa was worried. The girl had severe PTSD from a mission gone wrong in the beginning of her third year. Aizawa knew if Todoroki reacted badly and shut her out, her mental state would most likely take a turn for the worst. He knew the two were somewhat friendly with each other in school but that could be said about (L/N) with almost everyone. She was more concerned about pleasing and taking care of others than her self. And for both their sakes, Aizawa hoped that he would be wrong about that pairing, because he wasn't sure if they would be able to make it past that. Or if the Commission would be creating a bigger monster after enforcing their little idea.
