Secrets of the Eclipse

Chapter Two

"Thank for the introduction. You may take a seat beside Alana"

Alana wants the earth the swallow her whole. She took a glance at her best friends as Benjamin came and took a seat next to her. 

"Hey Alana. Nice to see you again"

Her friends are now looking at her, shocked.

"You know him?"

She mumbled "Unfortunately. He is a new tenant at the boarding house"

"Oh okay. Hey Benjamin. I'm Kelsie"

"And I'm Sam"

"Where did you move from?"

"Oh from Switzerland"

"So cool!"

"Now now settle down. Let's begin our class by...." the voice of the teacher were drown out as Alana was thinking a million ways to avoid Benjamin throughout the day.

After class Alana quickly packed all her things and said to her friends "Gotta go!" And rushed out of the classroom, avoiding Benjamin who was watching her in amusement.

He quickly got out of class and soon went to the next one. He spotted her and he almost hear her groan.

He sat behind her this time as she's been ignoring him as always and quickly rushed out. It happened throughout the whole day until it was the last bell. 

Alana got called by the teacher to discuss regarding some of her assignments. 

Throughout the time she wished time would go by faster. Soon she was let go and she quickly rushed to go home.

As she came out the door she saw him, beside her bike waiting for her.

She approached the bike, ignoring him and quickly got it unlocked as she left the school premises and headed home.

When she got home, it was quiet so she went upstairs to change and came down to find Benjamin coming in through the front door. She ignored him again and went to the kitchen where she found her dad already placing a plate of food in the middle of the wide dining table.

"Hey dad" she greeted him and kisses his cheek and went to sit down. Soon after her uncles and Benjamin came and sat down.

"Hey Alana. How was school?" Her dad asks

She started to eat and answered  "It was alright. There was a new kid" she glared at Benjamin

"Oh? So how was the first day at the your new school Benjamin?"

"Yeah it was okay"

"That's good"

Alana just rolled her eyes and continue eating. Her uncles can feel the tension but kept quiet. 

"I'm done" she placed the plate, cleaning it and put it in the dish water and soon got up the flight of stairs and headed to her room.

"Wow. What happen with her?"

"Did something happen while she was in school?"

"Probably. We just let her settle it herself. She's considered an adult now"

"Yeah"

Meanwhile Benjamin kept quiet as he continue eating. He knew she's been avoiding him all day and been in a bad mood because of him.

He wanted to apologise but she kept ignoring her.

He went to his room and laid in bed and thought of her how beautiful she looked.

'She deserve to be a Queen' he thought to himself.

As he laid in bed, thinking of her meanwhile in Alana's room she was tossing and turning, as she kept thinking of him

She sat up and slapped herself, lightly "Get a grip Alana. He isn't worth your attention" she laid back in bed and soon fell into a deep sleep not knowing what to expect the very next day.

Alana woke up the next morning feeling like a truck had hit her. Getting sick was not what she wanted especially since it is the last year of High School for her. 

She stayed in bed for a little while and heard her dad called her. He knocked and she with a groan said "Come in dad"

He opened the door to find her face flushed and hair disheveled.

"Hey....are you feeling okay?" He ask as he sat by her bedside and felt her forehead

"I feel like crap dad" she answered

"You have a fever. Just stay at home and rest for the day. I will tell the teacher you're not going to school today"

Alana was grateful for having an understanding dad.

"Thanks daddy" she said in a cute voice and hugged him tight

He smiled and placed a kiss on her forehead and said "Rest first. I will make something for you and afterwards you can take your medicine and let. Lie down"

He pushed her back down and soon she closes her eyes and fall into a deeper sleep only to be awaken a while later by her dad who fed her and slipped some medicine down her throat.

She went back to sleep again and when she woke up her body temperature has gone down and she felt better. 

She expected to see her dad when she woke up but it was a familiar mop of of hair that made her became surprised

'Why is he by my side? Where's dad?'

At that moment her dad came in with porridge and the sleeping figure woke up

"I will leave now Mr. Jones" he got up and left the room not giving her a second glance.

She felt hurt and she knew what she did to him was terrible as well.

"Are you feeling better?" Her dad asks and she just nodded.

"I did. Thanks dad for taking care of me" she said with a smile but his confused look was not what she expected.

"It wasn't me who took care of you"

Now it was Alana's turn to get confused

"Huh? Wasn't it you who fed me the porridge and gave me medicine?"

Daniel then realized what she meant and answered "I was too busy with something Alana. It was Benjamin who volunteered to take care of you"

"WHAT?!!!" That was the reaction from her and Daniel couldn't help but chuckle.

"Yeah. He insisted after I came down and saw me, he ask if you were alright and I told him you have a fever. He volunteered to cook and he even stayed by your side. He didn't even sleep"

Alana felt guilty for her actions and she knew she must make it up to Benjamin.

'What do I do?' Was her thought as she now knew she owe him for his kindness.
